Vetch - can't disagree with your comments. Personally, I think that Laudrup did wonderfully well during his first season. At times, the football was sublime (first half at home against WBA), a Top 10 finish and, of course, the icing on the cake was winning the League Cup, beating Liverpool and Chelsea (the reigning Champions of Europe). Unfortunately, things, for whatever reason, didn't go so well in his second season (excluding that wonderful evening in Valencia - I've still got the nosebleed from the height of my seat there!! ) I do wonder whether the root of the problem was his agent, and the falling out with Huw/the Club. In some respects, the permanent appointment of Monk was a surprise. From a points perspective, he has done better than I had expected at the start of the season, however, as we all know, some of the performances have been "turgid". However, we must all remember that this is Monk's first full season as a Manager. Both Rodgers and Laudrup were more experienced when appointed by Huw. Let's hope that next season, we continue to accumulate sufficient points regularly to keep away from the danger zone, whilst at the same time playing the style of football that we showed during our first 3 seasons in the PL.
So what would that say about their attitude towards Laudrup because other than the Valancia away game, we were piss poor in the EL
A lot has been made of comparing results between ML and Gm. Well my take on results is ....... we escaped relegation by 9 points and from our last 4 games we won 3 giving as the required 9 points without which we would have gone down with our little cousins !!!!!!
Monkabulary, for beginners. "If"; "could"; "would"; "should",and now "nearly". The show goes on - well "almost".
Well, one thing is for certain,we'll not be scraping through against teams in Europe next year. Unless Cupless takes the team on a preseason tour somewhere exotic.
So,Laudrup didn't win MOTM Award? Just as well, since his well stocked trophy cabinet is so full, there was no room for such insignificant awards. Monk,on the other hand, could lease out a couple of acres from his trophy cabinet, and still have room for his Rolex.
So Laudrup was going to take us from 2 points above relegation to Europe in 14 games? Now it's you who's playing the ifs, buts and maybes?
And you'd better hope we don't hit a run of form. After all, we are only 5 points off Europe in the worst Premier League of all time...
No,I only deal in FACTS. Laudrup DID NOT GET THE TEAM RELEGATED. Laudrup DID FINISH IN THE TOP HALF OF THE TABLE. Laudrup DID WIN US THE LEAGUE CUP. Laudrup DID TAKE THE TEAM INTO EUROPE. Laudrup DID TAKE THE TEAM INTO THE LATER STAGES OF THE EUROPA CUP. Laudrup HAD THE TEAM PLAYING SUBLIME FOOTBALL WHICH ENTRANCED AND CAPTIVATED THE FOOTBALLING WORLD. EVEN CARDIFF FANS' WERE IMPRESSED. I could go on,but hey, never kick a man when he's down. Monk has yet to achieve any of the above.
The stolen watches were recovered,I believe. I would never trust anyone who owned a Rolex. Sorry. Tacky, and no taste.
