Alex Neil said he was impressed with Josh Murphy in the under 21's the other night. Really hope he gets to start a few games instead of the odd 20 minutes here and there.
Lafferty was never a winger really, certainly not in our system. I think he would have been a success if he was actually played up front, where he clearly prefers. I've heard rumours Olsson is stuck getting to West Brom so the move might fall through.
Rob, I quite like Lafferty, but his record of Yellow cards worries me. Andreu and Dorrans seem like good moves and it will be interesting to see if Wes does leave. I was at the under 21 game last Tue and I too was impressed with Josh and his drive and enthusiasm.
We've been in for Craig No one all day, sounds like it might be off though. Shame if so, he would have been another strong addition to the width of the squad
Latest seems to be that the Olsson deal is off as they couldn't agree personal terms. Whether the weather player a part or not, who knows? But the Dorrans deal may be separate, and would probably be dependent on Fletcher going to WBA, which hasn't been confirmed yet.
Olsson was apparently stuck in snow. WBA have lodged an intent to complete subject to...... with the f.a. and have an additional 2hours to finalise.
Yeah it's definitely the yellow cards that are most frustrating. It's why it was virtually impossible for him to get 90 mins. I still think he should be used more as a sub. I know people say "Lafferty is not a winger" which is true in the traditional flying up the wing hitting crosses sense, but it is his preferred position and when he was playing well it helped make us play good possession football. A great outlet for the defence because he usually wins the 50/50s which then get played inside for us to have decent possession as his passing was good, while I always think a target man, unless they're Drogba, isn't always that useful and can just become a temptation for hoofball which comes right back at you. Still, no point banging on about history, eh?! I really hope Dorrans doesn't fall through. Seriously excited about him.
He is a winger with no pace that can hold the ball up and has a good first touch but looks like a CF . He is tall but can't head the ball or shoot , I hope he does well in Turkey but I'm glad he's gone I can't think of a worse number 9 especially at the price we paid.
Not a bad day really - shame about Dorrans as he would have been a great addition, but we did get an attacking midfielder (something we have been needing for years) and importantly we held onto Ruddy, Rusty, Bradders, Hooper, Redmond and Olsson, so that's all good.
I'm happy with the transfer dealings Olsson & Grabban have not been brilliant but if Jerome & Hooper both get injured he would be our only proven striker in the squad the same with Garrido if he picks up a knock we would have to gamble on Miquel to replace him . Alex was always going to bring his best players from Accies & the young Frenchman gets his chance to play under him again . In short we have kept all our best players and added to our squad. I can see why Olsson was cautious to go to another struggling Prem team & instead chose to try & go up with us. £4m for Dorrans seemed a bit steep to me he has not been great for a few years at W Brom . We are looking to build a solid back 4 & I think that Olsson Bassong Martin & Whittacker could be the start of a settled defense. We proved last week that we needed a new central midfield player and Andreu could be the missing piece of the puzzle he also chips in with a few goals .
