Blimey, nothing all month and now the transfer window has exploded into life for us. Dorrans in and Wes out would seem excellent business if the money isn't stupid. I'm hoping us outbidding Premier League clubs is more to do with WBA wanting to avoid selling to a relegation rival. A creative player comfortable wide or centrally would be a great asset, and he seems a more rounded player than Wes, who might suit a 4-1-4-1 better. Grabban and Lafferty may not have set the world alight, but surely selling both would be unthinkable? One going wouldn't worry me too much though, particularly if we do look to use a single striker and the deal is good.
Miquel is a left back who can play CB and Cuellar can also play LB. Olsson is a good player but this season seems to have lost the ability to look over his shoulder to see what is going on behind him.
If Dorrans comes here it will be because we will pay more than Burnley in wages and fee and because WBA seem to want Olsson in the deal. Dorrans is a good player but do we really need another midfielder? Don't be surprised if Hooper is not here after today which will not upset me one little bit.
Totally agree, neither has been particularly clinical which hasn't helped but I think once we have our midfield players fit and not suspended I think they'd be more relaxed and the results would come. I just wonder if clear cut chances get fluffed because they're being asked to do too much (ie track back & defend) I dunno just maybe there's a lack of belief in team mates and that's how it's coming out. Reckon with Bassong back hopefully he'll be back as he was for us and between him, Martin and Ruddy we'll have a well Marshalled defence to leave the forwards to concentrate on one thing?
I definitely don't want Hooper to leave, I really like him, think he's got quality about him and reckon he could kick on and do well in the PL should we go up. With someone like Dorrans setting him up I think he could score a hatful between now and the end of the season.
Neil only plays one up top and I don't think Hooper can do that. If Lafferty goes then I understand Hooper will stay despite an acceptable offer being received for him but I can't see him being happy behind Jerome with his power and Grabban with his pace.
Let's see if we can get that one over the line in time. Hectic few hours ahead at Carrow Road then. Dorrans and Andreu in, Olsson and at least a striker to leave you'd think?
Apparently we'd also expressed an interest in a young non-league striker, along with Cambridge and Luton, but he's going to join Palace. Would have been unlikely to effect the first team you'd think regardless.
I thought Andreu was a midfielder. We need to offload a few, the squad is starting to look bloated If these go through. Hoolahan, Grabban, Lafferty probably need to move on. I don't think the club can offer them the roles they suit.
Sorry, yes he is, that'll teach me to rely on the BBC. Agree about the squad looking bloated, if we sign two attacking midfielders then Wes has to be moved on, and McGrandles out on loan you'd think. On the Dorrans deal, I wonder if that might not turn out to be a canny deal where we don't end up much out of pocket, if at all. We could well be the championships biggest spenders this month, can Neil repay the board's faith?
Happy being linked to Andreu, but weakening an already fragile defence by selling Olsson is a bad idea.
Just been confirmed by the club that Kyle Lafferty moves on loan to Caykur Rizespor until end of the season
Yes, I like Dorrans and the fact Pulis doesn't want adds to his appeal. I'm not sure either signing is addressing the issues however.
