They'll be fine, even if they do have a disasterous run

Finishing 2 or 3 places down from where they are now would be enough for Ashleys ambitions.

Ashley offering them a bonus for a top 10 finish but not a penny for anything below

He's a class coach, he's had Ajax playing great whilst he's been there, 4 league titles on the spin. He's lost, Alderweireld, Erikssen, Sulejmani, Blind, De Jong, Vertonghen, Van Der Weil just to name a few over the years and he just keeps going, albeit this season he's fallen behind to PSV.

The exact type of bloke Newcastle are after, loses his best players consistently but keeps the club moving in the right direction.

Better manager than Koeman I'd say, although I doubt he'd prove that at Newcastle.

The players surely can't have any faith in him and don't care as he'll be gone in the summer.
He's so stupid he can't see that, by declaring his wish to be the manager, he's writing his own suicide note.
Anyone with any credibility will insist he's removed asap before taking charge.

I can only believe the senior players will completely ignore him and organise themselves during the games.
He'll be left on the sideline gesticulating while the players get on with tactics and formations.

I don't know about much or give two hhots abouth the Eredivisie, but I always thought that was always the case. They always play 'attractiveley', bring youngsters through, and sell when they begin to make a name for themselves. And not dominating with Ajax is like not dominating the SPL with Celtic or Rangers (before the meltdown).

Is this preconceived idea totally wrong?

There is a smidging in here :

    http://blogs.telegraph.co.uk/sport/...then-not-much-does-about-the-newcastle-owner/
the club's long-suffering supporters was as extreme as it was predictable: prolonged protests inside and outside of St James' Park, banners unfurled demanding the removal of the 'Cockney Mafia" and reports of death threats to Ashley. Ten days later, he had put the club up for sale.

They'd done badly until De Boer arrived and have won 4 titles on the trot, for the first time ever ...... so not like Scotland.
(This is from memory, so could be a little out.)

I can't imagine him going to Newcastle.

I guess it's the stereotypical idea of the Eredivisie.

It's a much, much stronger league than the SPL. He hasn't walked into a top job like Pep has and taken the credit for other's hard work.

I'm not implying he's the finished article, but he's showing a lot of Coerver characteristics to his methods on the pitch. In my opinion football doesn't get much better than when a dutch tactician gets his team ticking the way he wants.

Newcastle must be going for the Carver method, not quite the Coerver style but that's Sports Direct for ya.

I was just using Scotland as example. Could easily have gone for La Liga being dominated by RM and Barca, or Italy with Juve etc

    Current champions Atletico Madrid. <laugh>

I know what you mean mate, essentially yeah, they'll always be in the mix. It's not like he took over a minnow, but the football he's got them playing has been very decent. I'd be pleased if I was a Newcastle fan to have him, although they might be jumping to conclusions, nobody has said he's going there.

He's mentioned the PL, the media know the Newcastle job is open and they've joined up the pieces.

He wouldn't come as cheap as Pardew did and he's ambitious, just can't see it tbh.

Funny how the most sensible post on the thread attracts the least attention.

So I assume you've come on here to praise Ashley & Pardew <ok>

Many people, including myself, have commented on Ashley's intelligence.

There's a fair few of us saying he's not stupid by the way <ok>

You don't get to be a billionaire by letting your heart rule your head, but it doesn't stop him being a risk-taker and he's partial to flirting with the devil where you lot are concerned.

Unless of course, Ashley's attempting to make NUFC as attractive as possible to potential suitors.

Why would I praise Pardew? I was one of those saying that our relationship had probably run it's course. Pardew keeping Palace safe would have absolutely nothing to do with NUFC. It's obvious there was going to be a buzz about the place upon his arrival, does that mean he should still be at NUFC? No. Two different jobs, two different boards and under very different circumstances.

Why not, if you're agreeing with the notion of Pardew guiding Newcastle to 'doing consistently better than us'.

While you're on who do you want as manager and who do you think will get the job?

Nobody doubts is intelligence as a business man you dont go from one shop to a fortune of £3bn without it, what is being discussed are his motives for his decisions, same as you lot are doing on your board, mag mates of mine are going beserk on facebook, example :

hard to say how much i miss my season ticket and the banter on match day at SJP with the lads. but i am still refusing to put 1 penny in the coffers of the FCB and will continue until he's gone! he is profiting substantially from our misery!!! the sooner he gets what he wants in glasgow, the sooner he will sell up and do one from our hallowed ground. MIKE ASHLEY I DESPISE YOU!! ‪#‎nufc‬ ‪#‎maoc‬ ‪#‎toonarmy‬
