And he wasn't averse to scoring a few himself either. 183 from 808 appearances for Saints, which a lot of modern out-and-out strikers would bite your hand off to achieve. My favourite Paine goal was one I saw live, a headed equaliser in injury time in a FA Cup 3 round game at Oxford United. A truly inspirational player for both the fans and his team.

I know of a great player who has figures of 239 goals in 685 appearances. Plus another 14 for his national side. Defender too, so he kept them out at the other end. <whistle>

Swindon Town Manager Mark Cooper fully expects Southampton to give the Robins their blessing to extend Jack Stephens' loan deal until the end of the season "over the next day or two."
Stephens, who notched his first ever goal for the Robins in the 3-1 win over Chesterfield on Saturday, will see his current six-month loan deal at The County Ground expire at the end of January.
Speaking to members of the local press at the weekend, Stephens insisted that all parties were happy with his progress at Swindon and that any conversation over an extension would take just "30 seconds or a minute" - not the first time in recent weeks that both player and manager have eased concerns that the defender would be summoned back to St Mary’s.
With Southampton's Technical Director Martin Hunter due back from his trip to America today - Cooper told FLIC SPORT earlier that a deal to extend the talented 20-year-old's loan at Town until the end of the 2014/15 campaign should be "rubber stamped" within the next couple of days.
"I think their Technical Director is in America. He gets back today, so I think once he's back that will be rubber stamped over the next day or two," Cooper said.
"Like I've said before, I think that will be extended

I'd have liked to see Stephens back here, but by all acounts he's doing well so :)

Koeman rates him, or at least he did in the summer!

Same. When played in midfield he looks good.

Milner leaving City in the summer.

Very good pro, but for the likely wage demands is he that big a step up on Davis & JWP?
Think he'll do well wherever he goes.

Would be good if we can take advantage of the Leeds situation and get Byram this month. Think Right back cover would be very useful for the run in.
