At least the small amount of silverware we have won we won fair and square. Unlike scum Leeds who kicked and cheated their way to winning trophies. We all remember the brown envelopes stuffed with money that ensured Leeds added to their trophy haul. We also remember the many Leeds 'fans' who disappear when Leeds leave the Premier League. You are the third biggest City in Britain, yet your attendances are nothing special. Even now you rely on gloryhunters across the country to keep your gates up to a reasonable level. Leeds people don't want to know about Leeds United. Leeds people are more obsessed with Rugby than Hull people ever would be. Hull City are a local club for local people. Leeds United are vermin who rely on idiotic gloryhunters from across the country for support.
I thought we meant **** all to Leeds? These clowns seem awfully wound up with the constant reminders of what they won 30/40 years ago. This is why I find Forest fans a decent bunch: decent trophy cabinet but not anywhere near as pretentious in their current surroundings.
Agreed! I was a little depressed yesterday although I did expect us to lose, but reading this thread has cheered me up no end. No matter how bad things seem, there's always the white ****e to make me feel better about every thing. Whatever happens, we're nowhere near as bad as them.
At least you managed to find a photo of an open stand. Wasnt long ago they didnt open the Butter Stand for a whole season.... And I love this "you've never won **** all (sic)" statement regularly churned out. Well in that case regularly getting over 17k in the bottom division surely shows how loyal our fans are, if we never win and yet still pull in the crowds. Surely we are the polar opposite of glory supporters and Leeds can still lay claim to being the worst supported team per head of population in the UK.
Funny that. You averaged 3413 in 96/97. So basically when you started moving up the table your gates increased five fold. If that's not glory seeking I really don't know what is. Work that out in your poxy per head of population formula. 3413 is an absolute embarrassment. Nearly as bad as failing to make it past August in Europe......
Coming from a fan of a team struggling to win a game in the Championship, you have no leg to stand on.
Given the difference in population your 13,259 in Division 2, ours was in Division 4, doesn't compare that well. You haven't had decades of mediocrity and seasons in the bottom flight either. Getting less than 20,000 for league games but a full house against PL clubs for Cup games suggests a bit of glory hunting as well. That or Leeds people go to watch the opposition.
Why are you lot so firmly routed in the past? In 1923, your average attendance in the second tier was 13,135, which is pathetic and also hilarious given that your stat for us was us in Division 3. See how I can pluck statitstics from anywhere to prove a point? We were in the bottom half of the bottom division, the club was broke and we couldn't attract the gates, take a look at some of the other clubs attendances at that time and now who were in our position, like Accrington, Morecambe, Newport and Northampton and you'll see that your "absolute embarrassment" is nothing more than arrogance on your part. We might not have won anything major, but our history is just as important to us as yours is to you. It might not be as glamourous, but it's ours and perhaps the humble nature of our footballing upbringing is why our fans aren't arrogant ****ers who bleat on about other clubs who haven't won anything. When you spend a cold Tuesday night at Plainmoor in the rain (and the way you're heading, I'd start planning the route now), you can really appreciate how good 18th place in the top flight really is. In fact, as it stands, we're the 18th best club in the country. And you're the 40th. Behind our other, traditional lower league friends Bournemouth and Brentford. Put that in your ****ing trophy cabinet.
The old Leeds was unsustainable, what with the bungs and baubles. That's why Bates scrapped it. This incarnation of the yellow's is just some rival of Scunny and Grimsby. they're hoping if they post on a Prem club's board, some fool will think they're our rivals.
