Have we got a thread for keeping an eye on all our players out on loan?

Just saw how Swindon duo Thompson and Toffolo are getting on. Toffolo has become a first team regular, and has 4 assists in 11 games, playing as a LWB. Thompson is almost an ever present, and has 2 goals and 4 this year, not bad for a DM.

As mentioned elsewhere, 2 goals on his Cambridge debut for McGeehan is impressive.

I don't think Huth is the right type of Centre Back though. He's an aerial presence and an organiser, something we've already got in Turner, Cuellar and perhaps Bassong. What we lack is a centre back with the pace to get us out of trouble, and someone good at playing out confidently from the back. I'm not sure Huth is that player.

There's also the issue of how pairings work.
Martin, Turner and Cuellar are right sided centre backs
Bassong, Miguel and Bennett are left sided.
Not sure about Hooiveld.

We have players who can play RCB, but with Bennett out for 2 weeks, Bassong not match fit and with doubts over his mindset, that leaves Miguel and he's crap. That's forcing us to play someone on the wrong side of defence, and also to play two similar players. Huth also generally plays on the right of a pairing, so I don't think he's a solution to either problem.

Also unsure about Huth being the answer. There's Bassong if he can get back to his best, and he has the mobility and ability to work the ball out of defence (most of the time). Miquel is only 21, so I wouldn't write him off yet. Also, is Bennett left-sided? I think he played at RB on one occasion. Hooiveld is definitely left-sided though.

Kiwomya has made appearances for Chelsea's U21's and for Barnsley this season. A player can't make appearances for 3 teams in a season, so he'd be ineligible for the rest of the season.

Somehow that makes me think this might well be BS.

I don't know whether U21s counts towards that limit. Given that he has only just gone to Barnsley, I think we can assume we wouldn't be buying him for this season though.

Just seen on the BBC Football Gossip website that Swansea have tabled a rumoured £4M bid for Olsson -
I think he has been one of our most consistent players, but at the end of the day, if he wants to leave, there;s not much we can do
I'd let him go for that kind of money. He was heavily responsible for one of the Cardiff goals at the weekend - and poor positioning and reading of the game has cost us goals all through this season.
Sure, he's good at getting forward and has a sweet delivery, but he has neglected the defensive aspect of the job and hasn't been a patch on what he was last year in the Prem -imho.

Agree with this and I reckon the forgotten man (Garrido), would do a more than adequate job in this league <ok>

Have to agree with you Cromer!!! <ok>
Yes KIO, we have Garrido who can be given a chance to show what he can do.

If Olsson wasn't our player would we pay 4m for him on his current level of performance. Do we think his value will increase between now & the summer. If the answer to both is No, then we should sell him. What he wants shouldn't really matter.

I agree that Garrido could probably do a decent job in the championship, but what if he get's injured ?

So from a club perspective I wouldn't want him to go, unless we can replace him with someone of a similar level as Garrido and with the potential to improve.

Whittaker can play either LB or RB and would be 'adequate' cover.

Please, no! If we could get £4m for Olsson, there's no reason to 'make do' with another player who has had a far from emphatic season. Spend a couple of million on a decent replacement - or promote whoever plays in the under 21s or youth team set up?

If we got £4m or so I'd hope we spent it on another full back and not sit back on what we have. Olsson, when on form, is an excellent player. I'd want to keep him until the summer just so it didn't affect us do much, even if we didn't get so much for him.
I recom we need a new right back anyway. I'm sick of Whittaker and would love to see us bring in someone like Kyle Naughton or Sam Byram, for Russ to compete with.

Kyle Naughton wants first team football. More than an adequate replacement for Olsson, should he decide to go.

He's a right back though isn't he? Doubt he'd drop down a league to a team he wasn't guaranteed a starting place in (Though I would definitely play Naughton over Whits)
