Usually Van Gaal plays good football, but even when Holland smashed Spain, I thought his tactics were bus parky even if effective.

Thanks God Chelsea are saving the Premiership this season, playing attacking football on a net spend of £10m. Love Jose + FFP

Chelsea are only top due to everyone else being poor. <ok>

What, that squad only cost £10mil. Somebody is winding you up mate <ok>

I didn't think I would ever say this but United under LVG are missing ...

Ashley Young.

His speed bringing the ball quickly out of United's half into the opposition half, transforming defence into immediate attack has been crucial to United s tactics. The play since he has been injured has been ponderous. Just millions of passes in front of the defence with very little penetration - the Swansea - like play which is so unlike United.

Agree with this, but if di Maria had been used correctly we wouldn`t have missed Young as much <ok>

Loads of clubs would want Falcao and even Sir Alex wanted Herrera I think.

Arsenal, City and Liverpool have enquired about Falcao`s availability if his move to United falls through (Chelsea already have his understudy).
United were chasing Herrera for over 18 months so yes, Fergie did want him <ok>

Whether the players are good enough is what's important. For me whether they cost the GGs £300m or £30m is totally immaterial. It is only money that would have gone to increase the GGs fortune anyway and in case there was any doubt the GGs will recoup that money in no time.

The only important factor is whether the expenditure is any where close to FFP limit.

I think the problem is that LVG doesn't believe we have the players to play 442 or 433 and so we are left with this boring 532 formation. If we don't get any players in during this window I can't see there being any change in the approach he takes.

Another possibility...

There might be a good reason to the madness. LVG starts with a 3-5-2, luring the opposition into a sense of false security: " United won't score in 900 minutes playing like that never mind 90" then out of the blue, at 60 minutes, he switches to 4-4-2 and take them all by surprise. :bandit:

The man is an absolute genius masquerading as a madman <whistle>
