Their first three albums were all good, 'Music from the Big Pink', 'The Band' and 'Stage Fright' released between 1968-1970. They were, for about three years, Bob Dylan's backing band known as 'The Hawks'. This was a chart hit around 1970...
Ah yes mate. I was only thinking the other day I have not seen much of them on here so far. Top top band, I love the old and new stuff. I have a lot of time and respect for bands that keep pushing and experimenting with their sound. An early fave of mine. EDIT, swapped links as I just can't stand poor sound quality if possible to avoid it.
First time i saw them was a 2pm 45min Saturday afternoon festival slot, now major headliners. Think I've seen them about 6 or 7 times at festivals and in different venues in Glasgow - as you say, it's great to see bands continually evolving and pushing their own boundaries.
Cool. I love the drums, I play a little myself mind been a while now. I'm a sucker for bands with good drummers and boy is Matt Helders a good timekeeper.
Cool, worth staying up for and watching, 11:30 will be Legends:Thin Lizzy and more metal programs too. Nice find Sooper!
My dad was very good mates with John Entwistle in the early sixties before they were big. My old man used to hang out with them and Roady for a few years. My old man told me that even when they started out the instruments would get smashed up as part of the act. My dad being a roady for them used to keep hold of the broken guitars. Again it was early days and they did not have much money. Anyway the story is John asked my old man for his fret board back a they had a gig and he could not afford a new bass, needed to repair the old one. Just imagine how much that would be worth in an auction now if he still had this in the loft! The funny thing is even now if I talk to me dad about this he still complains that John never gave him back £20 the he lent him all those years back!
Something different now. I love all sorts of electronic music and I don't post much. Not everyone's cup of tea I know. I want every type of music to be represented on our thread. I find this very relaxing and the video goes so well to the musical vibe hear in my opinion...
