Don't think we should look for anything but loans for the remainder of the season. If it doesn't suit Kolbeinn then he's not for us.

Something about him just doesn't sit right with me.......pre-qualification for Redknapp to sign him!

It might be a case Harry just doesn't have confidence in the players we have. If we get this lad he will trust us going forward

I think had Remy gone to Liverpool earlier in the last transfer window, the Rs might have made a more solid move for Sigthorrson. It is easy to assume that he was a greedy bastard etc. but we should be cautious when forming our opinions from snippets provided by some random hacks. Don't all footballers and their representatives negotiate for the best possible deal? I doubt the Rs got any further than preliminary enquiries in the summer - why would they have made an offer then when there was still uncertainty whether Remy would stay or go?

Townsend expects to stay at Tottenham

Andros Townsend has said that he fully expects to stay at Tottenham.

QPR have been interested in bringing the winger back to Loftus Road since he impressed while on loan there two seasons ago.

However, Harry Redknapp does not believe Townsend will be made available before this month’s transfer deadline and the Rangers boss is currently looking at other targets.

And Townsend, who faces a battle to hold down a first-team place at Spurs, has been given no indication that he is surplus to requirements.

“The club want me here and I want to be here, so that’s all I can say at the minute,” The Sun quote him as saying.

“I’m a Spurs boy. I’ve been at the club since the age of eight so as long as I’m in the team, as I have been over the last few weeks, I’m not looking to go anywhere.

“The last six or seven windows have been the same, with my name linked with other clubs.

“But unless the club come and tell me they want me to leave then I won’t be going anywhere. I’m fighting for my shirt.”

Report: Southampton and QPR chase Dundee United star Stuart Armstrong

Southampton and Queens Park Rangers are both believed to be interested in buying Stuart Armstrong.

Southampton and Queens Park Rangers are both looking to sign Dundee United's Stuart Armstrong this month, according to the Daily Record.

Armstrong, who has previously been linked with Celtic, has impressed this season with his performances in the Scottish Premiership earning him a number of admirers.

A combative central midfielder with an eye for goal, Armstrong has got on the scoresheet four times and looks one of the brightest talents in the league.

United are said to value Armstrong in the region of £4 million and this price tag has ruled Celtic out, meaning that it looks like a straight fight between the Premier League duo to land his signature.

The 22-year-old, who has been capped at youth level for Scotland, has been a mainstay for the Tangerines for the past three seasons and looks capable of making the step up.

Armstrong currently has 18 months remaining on his contract at Dundee United and, although their chairman Stephen Thompson has publicly stated his intentions to keep his star man, the Premier League pair are reportedly set to make offers over the coming weeks.

Is Stuart Armstrong ready to play in the Premier League?

QPR’s McCarthy reported to be on Everton’s list after injury to Howard

    07/01/2015
    By West London Sport

QPR’s second-choice goalkeeper Alex McCarthy is on Everton’s list of possible replacement for the injured Tim Howard, according to the Daily Mail.

It comes after Everton boss Roberto Martinez confirmed he is looking to make a signing after Howard was ruled out for at least a month with a calf problem.

Martinez said: “There are a couple of options I feel could fit really well but I wouldn’t just bring in anyone who stops the development of a youngster.

“I would rather make it a long-term signing. I don’t think short-term would be a solution for us now.”

McCarthy, 25, is said to be under consideration along with Cardiff’s David Marshall, Norwich’s John Ruddy and Ali Al Habsi of Wigan.

McCarthy joined Rangers from Reading in the summer

Meanwhile, Yann M’Vila has rejected a possible move to QPR, again according to the Mail.

Rangers wanted the French midfielder two years ago but were unhappy with his demands and he subsequently joined Rubin Kazan.

But it is claimed that they have been looking to sign M’Vila and offload Adel Taarabt to Inter Milan.

M’Vila is currently on loan at Inter, where he has failed to make an impact.

You have to wonder why he would choose QPR over Southampton apart from the money. Unless, by some miracle, he is a boyhood QPR fan, I agree with Leif. Would be a gamble / one for the future anyway and no real help for this year's survival campaign.

He's a decent player who would do well for you. He's unlucky to be up against Hazard, Willian, Oscar etc for a game.

A one month loan would be very good for us to judge our keepers' relative merits.

Seems we're not in for the Iceman, unless Harry speaks with forked tongue:

Harry Redknapp has confirmed that QPR have not made approaches for Mohamed Salah or Kolbeinn Sigthorsson.

Salah has been linked with a move from Chelsea and Rangers were reported to be looking to take him on loan.

And Dutch media reports claimed a fresh approach had been made for Ajax striker Sigthorsson, who was the subject of a bid from QPR in the summer but failed to agree personal terms.

On Salah, Rangers boss Redknapp said: “Of course I’d take him on loan but I don’t think he’s available on loan. I don’t think Chelsea would let him out on loan.

“I’ve not asked about him. I never even thought about him until I was just asked about him.”

Salah, 22, has also been linked with the likes of Inter Milan and Sunderland."

I'm not sure many clubs would've been able to initiate a Plan B when the striker you thought was going to stay up and left the day before the transfer window closed. Do you sit down with Siggy and agree everything with him two months before the window closed, but say we'll only complete if Remy goes? That would not be a funny way of conducting business too. Under that scenario I'd tell the club to F-off. Or maybe Plan B is to panic buy someone from the bottom shelf as there's only a day to go...?
