I'm amazed at the positive sentiments here. A manager 15 years younger than NA with 18 months experience in Scotland. I'm not decrying it, but I can't help feeling that much of this optimism would fall away quickly should a few results go against us. I'd be very prepared to back him to the hilt if the Board decide to go that way, but I'm not at all sure the majority of fans would feel that way.

Moreso at Norwich, where for 3 fantastic seasons, Lambert could walk on water. Whoever was appointed after that could never match it in terms of sheer achievement and so some of the yellow army tend to deem 'it' 'failure' - at least they can't pre-judge a fella they've never heard of

If it happens, gotta feel a bit sorry for the Accies fans. Dreams of European football could be totally wrecked, and possibly just staying in the SPL for a few years could be a tall order as it has been in years gone by.

While all that's true, it's 18 months more experience of managing first team football in challenging environment than NA had.

This guy's a risk, but he remains less of a risk than Adams was. And I think shows more potential.

Sounds like he's made of the right stuff, inexperienced yes, not without risks certainly, but I'd be happy enough with his appointment, if nothing else because none of the other options being bandied about seem any better. To be fair I like the idea that he could be a manager for the long haul, Warnock would be an elasterplast, if he got us promoted then what? I hope that who ever takes the the job can get us promoted but if not this season then if he is good and showing progress then build for next (I realise this could also be said for both Adams or Phelan but I still don't see either as managers)

Only problem I potentially have with this is that this guy has been working in pretty much a no pressure environment (for a football manager) for the last 18 months. Accies weren't expected to get promoted and they sure as hell weren't expected to be third after 20 games in the SPL. He seems to have a very good chairman behind him too. The second he pulls up at Carrow Road the heat will be turned immediately to boiling point.

This guy's a risk, but he remains less of a risk than Adams was. And I think shows more potential.

He certainly shows more potential. For starters he's gone straight into management at the deep end rather than wait 15 years. His record is staggering, but this will be a big step up in terms of finance and potential of club. It's refreshing to see someone who isn't on the managerial merry-go-round top. Interesting times

I have little doubt life will be very different for him, but with any luck he is the kind of guy who revels in the pressure he's going to encounter every week.
