Tate could bring the ball forward , tactically , between two opponents and when they came at him equally , let go with a perfect worm burning pass to someone in midfield better than most . He was no Premier League player but held his own on the way up.Look for him to manage Crewe sometime . He will feel hard done by at Swansea at the end , and I for one dont blame him...hell of a keeper too ..lol

Absolutely mate, he made a lot of valuable contributions along the way and good luck to him in everything he does....I just didn't rate him very highly from day 1 and felt there were better defensive options out there for us (pretty much at every level we played at I felt this).
To me he was always among the weaker handful of players in the squad every season.
Proved a useful utility man in the end though and I even joined in with the chant, just that I always thought of it as ironic <laugh>
In all seriousness, we mustn't forget that Tate provided the passes for the 2 penalties at Wembley - first to Dyer then to Borini! <cheers>

He also spent several years making up for Monk in the back four.

I can remember watching Tate when we played Wrexham at The vetch. Him and Trundle were having a right to do and i saw him punch him in the kidneys 2 or 3 times with trundle chucking some elbows back. Thought then go on son get in there.

Now then, who has been made very welcome back at the Liberty and who has been shafted?

We sang as homage to someone who wore his heart on his sleeve ,not the quickest in thought or feet but he God loves a trier and I for one was chuffed for him to play in our first game in the PL v Citeh ( we really didn't think we'd win that one did we)

If Tate has been "shafted " by the Club then that'll tarnish for me the thought that the Club looked after their own unless of course he's committed an unforgivable sin against the Club.

To me it looks like he has been well looked after....he's not good enough for Prem football but was given a new contract on Prem wages and has only had to play reserve football and go on the occasional loan to earn it.
For me he can have no complaints.

Re: Man City
Nope, and I for one didn't expect anything much out of anyone all season. I just hoped that we would play our style of football and do ourselves proud (in terms of performance).
4 years later and I'm still pinching myself.
We've been very, very lucky as fans. What a journey!

Personally I'm hoping that Bournemouth can emulate us and secure promotion this year. They are as similar a club as it is possible to get and have been on exactly the same journey. Hope the Bournemouth fans have as much fun in the Prem as we have.

Without knowing the details of the reasoning behind Tate being offered a long contract perhaps it was the Clubs way of thanking him for his services and dropping into the U21's you'd have thought the Club he'd be able to offer some help in bringing the youngsters on .Perhaps the Club were hoping to start a "boot room" environment . O"Leary's now on the coaching staff , Pennock had a tidy job within the Academy although a few of the old faces have moved on aka Jon Beale .
