I would say he's overrated personally. But that;s not to say he's not a poor player - I think he's a useful player that every squad needs.

  2. Same. Lost count of the number of times I likened himt o Lucas and Kuyt when they arrived; lots of stick from fans and deemed not good enough early on but the effort and ability was there if you looked and I was confident they'd come good.

Also the number of times he was quoted as costing £16m by the media as if that was a lot of money for him <laugh>

(Actually, they all used to just round it up to £20m to make it easier, and spoke as if him and Downing were basically the same player)

    I compare Henderson to Lampard.

Lampard has had a world class career. But he did not really start to grow into himself as a top player until he was 24 and beyond. He in fact barely had goals to his name at 24.

Henderson is a great athletic with a great work ethic. He has an ideal balance of skills and is a capable leader. He is very tidy, does all his defensive duties and keeps the midfield ticking well.

I'm not saying Henderson plays exactly like Lampard btw, though he has similarities. He's developing in the same way.

  5. I thought it was £16m raising to £20m? I always find it amusing when they used the £20m as that suggested they expected him to be very successful for us <laugh>

Talks of Shaqiri joining Inter on loan and we sign him in the summer.

Strange but if true, it would imply that we may have one eye on FFP.

  7. Why wouldn't we loan him in the mean time though?

Free up money for Berahino now?

Maybe we're waiting to get the likes of Gerrard and Johnson's wages off the books before we start paying his wages.

Would love to see Messi at Chelsea. Would love him to be in the Prem.

Not ot sure how he'd fit in with Chelsea given they prefer a big target man but would be interesting to watch

He'll probably come the season after Stoke get relegated, just so that eternal question remains unanswered.

Or they'll play at midday on a sunny Spring Saturday.

Suso has apparently agreed a 4 yr deal with AC Milan. So he will be off in July

Messi won't go to the chavs. Firstly he won't be happy with playing rugby. Secondly £200m+ and massive, massive wages, that just isn't possible with ffp these days.
