By all account he has great potential and will add a touch of quality to the U21's ,I say we need players now for the middle rather than potential for the future though so maybe we may see him sooner rather than later.He's been a regular starter for Exeter which is obviously at a lower level but the Club must see something to spend 1 3/4 million on him .
Swansea have lined up a £1.75million deal to sign Exeter’s midfield starlet Matt Grimes in the January transfer window.
The move will catapult the 19-year-old midfielder from his current £500 a week pay packet to earn £10,000 a week with the Premier League club - which would work out as a 1,900 per cent increase in his wages.
Grimes, who has played three times for England’s Under 20 team, has also been watched by Liverpool and Sunderland.

But Swans boss Garry Monk has beaten them to the punch to sign a player he believes has the passing skills to challenge for a place in his team.
And he has convinced the talented youngster his career will be in safe hands at the Liberty Stadium because his own experience of playing in all four divisions means he’s not afraid to dip into the lower league’s to give talent a chance.
Exeter boss Paul Tisdale agreed the fee was too big for the League Two club to turn down, but wanted to do a deal to loan his star player back for the remainder of this campaign.

If knows how to sprint, mark, cover, tackle, pass short and move afterwards, and not smack people with his elbow, then he can replace Shelvey who has trouble with all of the above.

at Exeter who rave about him.They say he's class.Can beat a player,strong,pick a pass out and put it on a sixpence.When he was first linked with us they said he'd be perfect for our type of game.If he came to us they felt give him a few weeks to settle in,he'd be good enough to go straight in.
Also,listening to Alan Brazil on talksport about a month back he was on about him.I think he said it was Perryman he spoke to and he told Brazil they had a lad who was the business.The usual suspects were mentioned as being interested.
Pay the money Monk,get him in I say.Give it a go.
I don't mean to sound like I'm dismissing the lads' potential but we can't really think he's the answer to our "problem"
I've watched about 10 times already this season. (study down there) Won't go straight into your first team but is definatley one for the future. Got a cracking left foot, try and find the free kick he scored in the 3-2 win at Accrington a couple of week back. The main reason Exeter are not near the drop zone this season and certainly worthy of the highest fee Exeter have received for a player!
Agree. He sounds great for the future, hopefully we will bring someone a lot more experienced in too.
Creative/attacking. To lightweight to be a holding. The post above about him fitting in with your philosophy is spot on, give him a bit of time though. The two clubs he was linked with (Saints the other) have a good history of bringing through youngsters so it's a good move for him. Perryman was probably trying to get a few more quid with that BBC article! 
Also, give as much money as possible to Exeter City. A cracking club, 100% owned and run properly by the fans. As it should be

Perfect , sounds like a great investment .Bet ya he buys a new car.lol...wish I could get a raise like that.
If we are paying this lad the same wages as young Ben Davies was payed in his first season under Laudrup, then we must be bringing him into the frontline sooner rather than later......................
