It's not necessarily nothing, he's previously stated he'd be interested in getting the job. He won't be offered it so it's also-rans, but I wouldn't say it was empty journalism. You almost sound angered by it.

Not angered in any way.

Amused by the statements of "fact" with nothing to substantiate them. Basically it's bullshit disguised as journalism. If he has said it previously then do a little work & provide a quote or source. It's worse than empty journalism. It's ****.

Not sure the club shop does a mens gilet so if Brucey leaves and we get Sherwood it will cost us a pretty penny to get him kitted out. Do we start the gilet donations thread now?

Are you suggesting that the story could be rehashed by changing the name to Sherwood, Pulis or Hoddle?

There were more articles at the time, I knew it was from last season but I thought it was a tad more recent than this.

He makes reference to "regretting turning down the chance" back in 2004.

Gilet? Is that the best a man can get?

I'm not in dispute as to whether he's said it or not. My point is the report was a lazy load of unsubstantiated **** reported as fact.
But it doesn't. The sub-headline reads "Steve Bruce COULD replace Alan Pardew as Newcastle boss", not that he will. The next one down is about Pardew joining Palace, which is also true apparently, then there's something about Bruce willing to work under Mike Ashley, which I don't know about personally, but I suppose if he does want the job he'll have to do.

The story also alludes to Bruce being under pressure, which he is, a good relationship with Graham Carr, which he is known to have and facing competition from two out of work managers for the job, which he will.

I hate the Daily Mail with a passion, but I don't see any lazy journalism there at all, there certainly isn't any bullshit. In fact it's probably the best article they've ever written ever.

according to HDF, Brucey is linked with Palarse.

Please Mr Bruce go and get them relegated instead of us.

It makes unsubstantiated statements & suggests they're fact.

"Steve Bruce interested in replacing Alan Pardew as Newcastle United manager"

Unsubstantiated.

"Hull City boss Steve Bruce is interested in replacing Alan Pardew as manager of Newcastle United and would be willing to work with owner Mike Ashley."

Unsubstantiated.

"And Bruce – who was sacked by Sunderland three years ago - would jump at the chance of a return to his native North East and the club he supported as a boy."

Unsubstantiated.

"Steve Bruce is interested in replacing Alan Pardew as Newcastle United manager"

Unsubstantiated.

"it is thought he would accept the transfer model which sees Carr identify the majority of targets."

Unsubstantiated.

It's lazy speculation, probably not far from the truth but If somebody wrote that type of **** on here people would be asking, quite rightly, for a link to their information to include quotes so as to substantiate their story.

I agree.

@mattdeanradio: BBC Newcastle are unaware of a [HASHTAG]#nufc[/HASHTAG] approach for [HASHTAG]#hcafc[/HASHTAG] boss Steve Bruce amid reported interest.

@bbcburnsy: No official word from Hull City but I get impression there has been no approach from Newcastle for Steve Bruce at this stage. [HASHTAG]#hcafc[/HASHTAG]
