I'm not saying we would come straight back up. I'm saying with Bruce in charge I'm 100% confident we wouldnt go down again into League One and that is the biggest worry. We really have got that look of a club who is going to be lumbered with expensive, non caring players. This January is the most important month we've had in a decade and he'd do well to clear out those I refer to and restore that fighting, gritty, British and Irish - and Jelavic and Elmo - XI.

I honestly think selling Boyd and signing HBA could be the worst move we have made since Turner and Sonko. The difference is maybe we can still do something about it next month.

I'm sorry, but are you saying selling George Boyd for £3m was a mistake???

I said it was the biggest mistake since Turner. It doesnt matter if he plays every week, his attitude rubs off on others and Bruce himself said if all players were like him management would be easy.

I seem to recall that we've won 1 game since he left, Burnley have won more than that and Boyd has been excellent for them. That £3m is peanuts for what he brings.

In the scheme of things £3M for Boydy was a good deal, as he is an OK player, but if we are trying to get to another level he is not good enough. Burnleh this year are very much like us last season, just come up, defensively sound, and winning their games by the odd goal. The likelihood is Burnleh will struggle next season if they stay up, as they won't have had the momentum of just coming up from the Championship.

SB has tried to take us to the next level, but because of injuries, and one or two signing not turning out as hoped we are struggling. However I am sure if we get the likes of Huddlestone, Diame & Dawson back things will start to pick up.

Presumably then you also think selling Shane Long for £12m was also a mistake, as he also fits your criteria.

This is just "after the fact" rubbish. Nobody in their right mind would have turned down £3m for Boyd or £12m for Long.

Managers live and die by the decisions they make, but nothing in life is certain. I'm willing to bet that if you polled the fans at the time, the vast majority of our fans, and indeed the football world, would have said that Steve Bruce did excellent business in the Summer. To come out now and say it wasn't is cheap and plain wrong.

Yeah it would be, that's why i didnt say that. I said selling one player was a mistake.

So who did say it was a mistake and therefore "cheap and plain wrong". Or are you putting words in my mouth?

I agree that we all would have sold Shane Long and Hernandez. That's why none of us are football managers, their careers depend upon calling these decisions right.

    Is that a trick question??

    Why?

It obviously wasn't good business, was it...

At the time I did question two things, the amount of very similar players we signed on top of the ones we already had (Ben Arfa, Ramirez, Hernandez and Ince on top of Brady, Aluko and Quinn already at the club) when we don't play with fecking wingers!

I also questioned why every single one of the bastards is left footed.

Ah, silly me - i thought we signed lots of players during the summer window. Turns out we only signed and sold 1...

We're in trouble now, but there is the time to do something about it. Our 12 months, 38 match form is appalling and it is getting worse, not better. We play football to win, to maintain our leagues standing and, if possible, improve it. It seems to me some think it is more important to plan for failure than to plan for success. Will anyone from the 'Keep Bruce' camp please explain to me what it is that convinces you he will keep us up? My argument that he won't is the form I have already mentioned and the fact that he is repeating a well known (but hoped overcome) Steve Bruce trend of running out of ideas and then running out of player confidence. This isn't a one-off and we are better off dealing with it now.

It should also be pointed out that, in three attempts, Hull City have neither scored a goal or picked up a single point in January in the premier league.

A trend I can see continuing.

That would be an amazing stat if true. But fortunately only last season qualifies - we scored and got points in 08/09 and 09/10.

Boyd only started nine games last season.

I remember reading it on here, never checked it out for myself. We always have a **** January though so it seemed entirely plausible.

They come back, they get injured or suspended, they come back etc. We kept saying "when Bullard is fit we will be a different team".
Diame...good player but sadly ran of the steam and now injured.
Dawson...always liable to get injured in a central defenders role or lack of pace means bookings and a suspension
Huddlestone...not the same player this year. Possibly dejected after missing the world cup squad or thinks he is too good for us. One thing I do know is his shooting is terrible for a guy that hits the ball so sweetly.

I am seriously worried for Hull City. I hope Brucey turns it around but it is not looking good ATM.

You'll get out of it. Your squad has enough quality to stay up with ease.

Shame that the 2 big loan signings haven't worked out as they're both excellent footballers, but the upside is that you can fill those 2 squad spots in January.

Hindsight is a wonderful think isn't?

I can't remember anyone saying it was a massive mistake selling Boyd and Long and signing Hernandez, Ramirez, and HBA.

No, I don't think anyone did say it was a mistake.

It doesn't change the fact that it was a mistake.

Well it probably wasn't, they're all just too attack minded for the managers plans.
