Okay, Einstein, we lost from a very bad deflection that was going no where near the back of the net. We hit the woodwork, so what was it that was lollipop definitive to you; what did you see in our play that reassures you for the next two games?
yeah he took us to our first cup final, took us into Europe.. that was good, I agree, but forgive me for wanting more than losing.. it isn't just losing but it's the manner of the loss. We just rolled over without even putting up any sort of fight.
It's not unreasonable for any team to feel they can beat anyone at home (Chelsea and Man City aside).
They are a top half team currently 8th place and 9th before today with a nice positive goal differential currently +3 and +2 before today. Swansea will clearly finish the season in the top half of the table. It might be nice to beat a team like Swansea but they are not the type of team that we can expect to win against. Our key games will always be teams that lie in the bottom half and in particular teams that are fighting to avoid relegation
Its not unreasonable to hope we do, but its pretty unreasonable to think that you will and get so upset that you want a coach fired for it. The reality of the situation is this is not the type of game that we can expect to get upset about losing.
Well it reassures me that we played well enough that it took a very bad deflection to get a win against us. We clearly played well enough to get a draw. That tells me that we are where I had hopped we would be today and that going into our next 2 games that we have a high likelihood of finishing this month where we need to. We might have lost but I end today feeling positive not negative about our prospects.
You are unbelievably optimistic. We were lucky Swansea didn't stick 4 or 5 past us, they created some good chances and got into some very dangerous situations. We created absolutely **** all. We have to actually create a chance before we can score a goal, and we have to score a goal before we can win a game. All things I can't see us doing any time soon. On a side note, I wonder how long it'll be before the poodles are ****ting all over this thread...
Aye, suspensions and injuries have been killing us. It's not just the quantity of them, it's been the spine of our team. Our line ups have looked pretty weak the last few weeks imo. We've got a bit of depth to the squad but we're just not good enough to have our key players out every game. I do question some of the recruitment. No real forethought or design. We've a ****load of wingers, but we almost never play wingers. So they get shoehorned into a second striker role and we then wonder why they're not effective.
I dont think anyone who knows me would ever call me optimistic. I am a glass is half empty kind of person.
So who are we going to beat? Not Stoke or West Brom at home, that's expecting too much. Definitely not Swansea who had the worst away record in the league before today because they're far too good. Which teams are we looking to get 3 points from?
Games I think we are just looking at getting 3 points for the next handful of months. There are 21 points from games we will clearly be looking at getting wins from just to the end of march. Not that we will end up getting wins in all of them but those have to be the ones we are looking at getting wins from. December Sunderland away Leicester home January West Brom away February QPR home Stoke away March Sunderland home Leicster away
Very true, difference between thinking you can and thinking you will. Nowt's guaranteed in this league.
Not sure how you think we can pick up wins at some of these places when you don't fancy us at home against a Swansea team -7 first team players and the top scorer in 2014
Time for Bruce to go in my opinion. This isn't me knicker wetting or overreacting to a home defeat by Swansea, this is 6 wins in a calendar year or 6 wins in 36 games. If this was the form of any other club we wouldn't be surprised at all if the manager got the sack. He has been given a lot of money to spend over the last 2 transfer windows and yes he has been unlucky with injuries but with the amount of money spent we should have been able to cope better that we are. We just look so devoid of any ideas or inspiration and I can't see where the next goal is coming from never mind the next win. Enough is enough before it's to late to save our season. Pulis in!!
I dont fancy us even at home against lots of teams in this league not just Swansea. If we lose at home against Arsenal or Newcastle the teams surrounding them I am also not going to get upset. I will get upset if we dont get results in our next 2 games.
Would you give him till march then? Could be leaving it late like if you don't get the results. I get what you're saying about calls to sack him today. But you have to admit it's starting to get to the point where he'll be getting a target to keep his job before the club need to bring in someone to save him. Brucie has had fierce support from you lads(you're all a credit to him) but what's happening now is natural, people are changing their opinions and it seems to be based on performances as much as results. Brucie will be starting to sweat no doubt. Hand full of wins and the heats off though.
