We had plenty of game intelligence with Suarez and Sturridge last season, as well as Gerrard in his purple patch. We need game intelligence - Hendo doesn't have it.

He should be our stalwart Midfielder with a Capital M, our new Gerrard, or Fabregas, Barkley, Yaya, Xavi, Xabi, Modric ffs. Not our Wilshere.

  2. Gerrard? Fabregas? Yaya? Xavi? Xabi? That bar might be set a bit high <laugh>

Might as well stop dreaming of becoming a regular top 4 club again then. I'd refer you to your mod bro's sig...

BR calls Coutinho "the brains of the team". Fair enough about Coutinho - he does see the game quite well. But LFC cannot rely on just young Coutinho for brains. It needs to come from deeper. The box to box midfielder is the general.

Anyone who can do a deal for William Carvalho in January will be onto a winner. There's at least a decade of quality there (avoiding injury ofcourse). Would love to have him at United, but he is just what Liverpool need as well.

I'm a big fan of him - really well rounded player already. Immense potential.

  6. All those players you listed had a water carrier alongside them to enable them all to excel. Hendo is the water carrier, not the star.

And who would be the watercarriers for the aforementioned?

We can't afford watercarriers. DM should be the only position afforded little technical or creative skill. However, even the DM, actually especially the DM, must display a lot of game intelligence.

Yesterday on MOTD Guillet said this about Spurs 'they have a lot of players who like to do the tiki taka, but they dont have any players who like to get stuck in'.

Henderson and Coutinho's pairing is a good example of what Guillet thinks Spurs need.

There are a lot of fans who think you can only be either a midfield battler or a technical midfielder. The best midfielders in the world can defend/press and contribute on the ball.

Henderson is a battler who can occasionally do something decent on the ball. For him to be a quality MF, he really needs to step it up on the ball.

Sunday Times reporting that FSG are speaking to AVB as a replacement for Rodgers.

Not sure who wrote the article.

Your thoughts on him? Part of me thinks he's failed to live up to expectations, part of me thinks he was never properly supported at Spurs or Chelsea? Would you want him at Liverpool?

Are you seriously asking if we want this?

Some people whine about Rodgers' spending of the Suarez money so they link us to the guy who wasted the Bale money <laugh>

I think you should check on who wasted that money tbf. Pretty sure it wasn't AVB hence my comment about not being truly supported at either club (whether by players at Chelsea or the Board at Spurs).

Think he is a talented coach.

Personally, I would prefer someone like Klopp, Simeone or De Boer.

Yeh I think so too, but perhaps needs a blank slate to start from?

Can't see Simeone happening tbh, but Klopp and De Boer very much so. I'd add Bielsa to that as well.

I think his situation at Spurs is basically the same as Rodgers, albeit FSG are far less ****s than Levy

If you're not going to blame AVB then don't bother blaming Rodgers and so why would you want to get rid?

He didn't have any defence, didn't play attractive football, was stubborn with his tactics, handled older player badly, gave **** interviews, crouched like a prick... WTF?

Spurs have had a DoF for time and memorial...certainly since Martin Jol's era from what I can remember. It's widely reported AVB didn't sign (or want) the players they signed from the Bale money. Whereas there's nothing to suggest Rodgers didn't have some (if not all) say in your transfer debacle over the last couple of years. Plus AVB has actually had considerably more success that deserves merit. And he will have links to emerging talent and players on the continent which help you. You really need to stop comparing him to Rodgers, that is besides the point.

Managing Porto to league titles doesn't constitute success... that's like managing Celtic to the title in the last few years since Rangers were relegated <laugh>
