Spurs have had a DoF for time and memorial...certainly since Martin Jol's era from what I can remember. It's widely reported AVB didn't sign (or want) the players they signed from the Bale money. Whereas there's nothing to suggest Rodgers didn't have some (if not all) say in your transfer debacle over the last couple of years. Plus AVB has actually had considerably more success that deserves merit. And he will have links to emerging talent and players on the continent which help you. You really need to stop comparing him to Rodgers, that is besides the point.

We don't have a named DoF but the situation isn't Rodgers deciding things either.

For me, if you want to criticise Rodgers then do so on things like tactics. Transfers shouldn't come into it unless we get more info about the working of "the committee"

That's just defenders of Rodgers clutching at make-believe straws tbh. He waxed lyrical about every signing made when they put pen to paper.

Firstly, I didn't start about AVB by criticising Rodgers. And I didn't bring up transfers either. Both those things you've done and I've simply responded. Couldn't care less about Rodgers transfers in this debate. I believe AVB is a better coach and tactically better than Rodgers, and he has experience of winning trophies and more experience of European football. Plus he would have contacts on the continent to certain agents/scouts/players which Rodgers (and most British managers) don't.
 
If this mysterious "committee" are to blame for Liverpool's comedy transfer activity then you're ****ed medium to long term as binning Rodgers and bringing in a new manager will make little to no difference. Obviously you'd expect an improvement tactically but the new manager would still have to work with the average players signed by the "committee".

First the committee aren't mysterious we know its there and roughly who is on it, who is in control and which players were committee or manager buys is the mystery.
One thing is for certain both committee and manager transfers during BR's tenure, except Sturridge and Couthino, have been expensive or poor or both.

Which is why most of us favour a DoF with European recognition to take control of the transfers.

There is an element of luck in all cup competitions tbf. But any manager who wins European cup competitions deserves recognition. I've always credited Rafa for his cup wins (and his La Liga titles too). He just turned into a grade A prick that's all...and then went downhill fast and disappeared up his own arse never to be seen again.

Wealready know Brod is in control, both he and Ayre confirmed it. I don't buy into this Committee or manager buys BS, Brod's obviously given the go ahead no matter who suggested the player.

Liverpool want West Ham defender Winston Reid to challenge misfit Dejan Lovren (various) see above with additional OH GOD thrown in.

Edinson Cavani set to ask PSG to REDUCE £50m asking price to force through Arsenal move (express) missed the boat LFC, missed the boat... a monster of a player for the prem I think.

Saido Berahino and Timo Horn are linked with a move to Liverpool next month (dodgy website blog)

I think Cavani would be immense, and to think he would have cost almost the same as Markovich and Lovren, ****ing criminal.

As for Borini, He dug his heals in over a move in the summer, so what's going to make him move 6 months later? He'll just say no. And I doubt Sunderland will be offering anywhere near £14m now

I think it's all about wages meself. I mean he's f'd his career totally now. if he was looking for a move to italy it did not come so he has to get on with his career now. Look if he came out and said. I want to fight for my place and play CL then fine ok... but he didn't really say much.

I hope he goes and the fee is not now 8mil.

BUT we MUST MUST MUST SIGN A PLAYER!!!!

I don't know. I think he moved about too much prior to joining us and its hampered his progression. Maybe he's realised that and wants to settle for a while. Obviously, staying somewhere where he's not wanted isn't going to help his career. Plus its seems daft that he's attempting to settle at Liverpool after being at Sunderland last season too.
 
well he was at roma and playing for italy so for me he should never have moved to us... but he expect to be a big star when he did...

Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur are set to battle it out for West Brom's England U21 striker Saido Berahino.

The Daily Mail are reporting that the two clubs are both preparing January transfer offers for the youngster, who has scored seven goals in the Premier League this season.

Stoke keeper Asmir Begovic insists he is contented at Stoke City, but hasn't given up hope of playing at 'the highest level' at some point in his career.

The Bosnia-Herzegovina international is out of contract at the end of next season while Liverpool have been linked with a move.

Begovic gave another starring performance to deny an Arsenal comeback in Saturday's 3-2 victory at the Britannia Stadium, which has seen his stock rise even further.

However, the 27-year-old claims he is settled at the Potters - where he has played since moving from Portsmouth in 2010.

"My future is here at Stoke as far as I'm concerned. We've got a lot of games coming up and I'm hoping to be a big part of that," Begovic told Sky Sports.
