If you have £30m to spare then as long as there is nobody else interested you could be in with a chance of bony...any offer less than that will be laughed off and thrown in the bin...
Part of me wishes we'd spent that little extra on Bony than Baloshitty. But also part of me thinks we should have tried to get someone better than both and thats the bigger part.
Lol I'm well aware. But he would be the ideal back up striker instead of Lambert - someone who knows how to get in the box and score goals.
ATM, he'd be first choice for us. However, I was obviously saying his name with my tongue firmly planted in my cheek We should be aiming better than him, we should be aiming better than Bony, Benteke and Balotelli too!
I've always liked Milner, if used properly he is a very good player. He's not a winger, he's a energetic battling midfielder. Problem is he's 28 turning 29 in January and will be on big wages too. I think the Kono ship has sailed.
Completely agree - I don't want us buying anyone from the UK market full stop. Definitely - he's a quality CM who doesn't get the credit he deserves. True but I think our midfield needs some experience. Kono on a free - would provide pace and versatility. It would take the pressure off some other players as well. Shaqiri would be the one for me though.
You saying you wouldn't buy Aguero, Sanchez, Hazard. Costa, etc...? PS...I know they are unrealistic, just playing If we signed Milner, there would be a backlash from most fans since he is so unappreciated. Not exactly what we need atm either mind.
Nope I wouldn't because of the costs - I would have signed them all BEFORE they made their moves and became top class players. Agreed on Milner - some fans would feel underwhelmed. But I think we do need him because our midfield is sh*t. Henderson offers little on the ball. Both he and Allen are very good squad players at best. We need midfielders who can actually run with the ball.
I like Hendo and I'd still keep in in the side, same goes for Lallana. Those three work ridiculous hard and are all very good at pressing too. Playing all three would give us bags of energy, put opposition under intense pressure and make us hard to beat.
Hendo's just on a poor patch of form (confidence or pressure of being VC) but he certainly can still be a top midfielder for us. I wouldn't be entertaining the idea of relegating him to squad player yet.
Energy and working hard is crucial in the team but so is actual ability. Henderson does have ability - but he's so inconsistent. His shooting and composure is atrocious but he has scored a few crackers. His range of passing is erratic but he can play the odd beauty now and again. And he can't run with the ball at all and we need midfielders who can drive the team forward i.e. Emre Can does this. Personally, I don't see another a level from him - I don't think he'll improve much over the years. That's not to say he won't though. Lallana is a tidy player but again, I don't see him improving. I think he's good but is going to win us titles? I think he's a player who can be rotated with Coutinho or sterling every now again. As I mentioned - these two are good but I don't think they're good enough to be starting for a top class team. But they would be good squad players.
Not at all - but if we get to a level when we'e winning titles and competing in Europe, he would be a squad player IMO. At the moment, he's still a first teamer but our central midfield has been weak for a while. For Hendo to be a top class player, he needs to do more on the ball. He's quite limited in that respect. Off the ball - he's very good.
Jimmy makes great points about Hendo. Unfortunately, I wouldn't groom him even as a DM, as though he's energetic without the ball, one MUST have high football IQ to play the DM role. We rushed making him vice captain. I'd sell him tbh.
Haha whoa I wouldn't go that far. But we certainly need better midfielders - our central midfield is seriously weak and cannot control a match. I do hope we sign William Carvalho to beast up the DM role and Emre Can is given more starts.
If you bench him and use him as a squad player, his market price gets cut in half. Right now his market price is at peak.
The moment Hendo saw red against Man City was the moment we lost the league title last season. He is THAT important to us! It pisses me off when players are criticised for betting off form, it happens. Despite that, I'd still play Hendo ahead of any other midfielder we currently have.
