I'm not angry, I'm not bitter, and I'm certainly not running a 'campaign of hatred' towards our current manager. What I am is genuinely concerned for the future of our club. I'm not ready to accept us being a null of the mill Championship club again.
This season is considered to be our best chance of getting back to the top flight, and rightly so. After three seasons in the Premier League, an extremely good core of players retained and big money replacements brought in promotion can be the only aim. Currently we're a million miles away from that. We're so far from a good team it's just not enjoyable going to the matches.
To maintain the possibility of promotion this season we need to act quickly. A lot of fans, myself included, believed Adams should have gone after the Boro and Forest games. Since then we've picked up one point from two eminently winnable home games. Adams doesn't seem to be able to turn this run around. If anything I think we're getting worse week by week.
Of course the players should take a degree of responsibility for the poor performances, but most were of the opinion that they're more than good enough to win games in this division. I still do. So the problems must stem from elsewhere. As I said in another post its a lack of leadership on and off the pitch.
I'm not saying any of this to be provocative, but I'm glad we're already on 27 points. The way we're playing I wouldn't back us to get a lot more than the 23 points needed to stay up. I just can't see where the next win is coming from.
Cardiff, Bolton, Fulham, Birmingham and Huddersfield have all turned their form around after changing their manager. I believe it's time for us to do the same.
