The one that stands out for me is American Beauty...From the title alone I had made my mind up that it was a pile of crap...However, when I finally got around to watching it I was completely taken aback and thought it was a cracking film..

Forrest Gump is definitely another one that took me by surprise...Bloody great film...Another one which has come to mind is Toy Story 3..I reluctantly took my kids to the pictures to see it when it came out and thought it would be on the same lines as the 2nd in the trilogy which was pretty poor. However, I ended up with tears in my eyes near the end and was pleased it was dark in the cinema..A couple of films that I recall - 1st one was True Lies - watched it at the Empire in London late at night (was pissing down in Leicester Sq and I wanted to kill some time) thoroughly enjoyed the movie (original & uncut version) humour and action plus Schwarzenegger was excellent - The second was Forrest Gump - took my wife to cinema to see a different film, but it was sold-out so whilst looking at the listings what to watch instead a young couple gave us their tickets for the Gump movie as they'd decided to go for a drink instead - the film didn't appeal to me or my wife - but what the heck they were free- both us really enjoyed the film
The Boy In The Striped Pajamas.
Bloody class film & very ironic.
Had me and our lass in tears when we watched it marra..
Me anarl mate, very poignant.
It sat on my DVD shelf for ages.
When I eventually got round to watching it I almost put the telly through the wall.
What about that poor bloke who was a doctor?
Certainly put a different perspective as to what went on in these death camps and the people who were running them...I found that as the film went on, I sort of knew what was going to happen, but I still didn't want to believe it would, and then it did..
