Has everyone forgotton the £75million new stadium expansion we are currently building? Would account for the missing Suarez money and lack of funds this January
That's it. It's not exactly the glamour position is it! 'Look Brad, we've got the best benches in the business, the best money can buy.' Is that why clubs have race car seats, to make the sitting down worthwhile for the sit-downers??
raised that point in my first question i believe. or 2nd or 3rd one of them anyway. i credited billy though i think, was it you that raised the point then about stadium funding?
Bar the fact FSG have said the stadium costs won't effect the transfer kitty I'll be pissed off if thats true though. Stadium costs aren't counted towards FFP (hence us claiming the loss was to do with that) so why take money from an area that does count? Unless thats part of the plan? Overspend against FFP rules with the intention of feeding it back in this year?
looks ok..... Bascially west brom down = small change. with 60/70 odd mil a piece from tv alone this net spend is nothing. The thing about this season is after a bad what 9/10 managers sacked last year we seem to have a hiatus on sackings in the prem. I do not see that lasting. Redknapp as to be under serious pressure. Warnock is too. a run of form seems to have saved Pardew temporarally. Bruce can't organise a piss up at the back at hull. Rodgers is a dead man walking. Pinocchio at spurs looks to have told a few too many porkies. Lambert is hanging on for dear life. In PFHACKT.... after spending 3/4 times more than other sides the minimum performance utd had to deliver was CL so all they are doing is barely skirting by. I'd have to say that aside from knowing FSg's form and the amatuer hour staff at the club.... Rodgers should be the first on the above list to be sacked. however i expect a flurry of sackings after january which IMO is nuts.
its easy... you say to a guy playing in the championship... hey here's 20k per week... every week to sit wathcing a game of footy every saturday... you would!!! the moron has a league cup medal and all!
What's amazing is Southampton. It just shows how the purchase of the right players and the appointment of the right manager makes all the difference. You have to wonder whether all this money (mostly Suarez money) has been a curse. We could have given Suarez to Barca for free and spent only 20m-30m, on one or two players and we couldn't have had a worse team.
Jones is the only one I recall that was playing in the Championship. We've had a few back-up international keepers!
It helps when they found a couple of muppets willing to pay way over the odds for their players We need to learn to walk away when a deal isn't right. Annoyingly, we only seem to that when its players we SHOULD be going all out for
I'm really disappointed with our scouting department, we should have had a number of targets to replace Suarez identified and should not have had to resort to the "calculated risk" that was Balotelli.
What 'missing' money? He spent it ffs. His total spend this summer was over £110m. That's on top of the other £100m plus he'd spent in the previous 18 months. He's been backed to the tune of over £100m net in 2 1/2 years.
still paying for the Carroll **** up i reckon there sadly. bright side is its only nov still time to sort the shambles out, and we may end up doing better than the teams we are all praising now? then what lol, i will start properly worrying properly around march time if still a shambles, we will improve, its just when and if we can change things.
We should have had targets compiled from the day he arrived, never mind this or last summer. Luis made it clear from the moment he joined that he wanted to got o Real or Barca and was using us as a stepping stone. Obviously, I don't mean we should have used a list from January 2011 this summer, I mean we should have had a list of target that was constantly monitored and updated so when the day came we'd be ready. I'd say the same for every player, maybe not direct replacements for each, just a list of targets for each area should something happen.
Other than the fact BR said that all the signings he made (except Balotelli) would have been made regardless of Suarez being sold and were not contingent on him being sold
That's what's really got to me, some of the targets we had clearly been monitoring but a lot seem rash choices that have not paid off.
The Carroll deal (both buying and loaning/selling) was just awful. Shockingly bad! However, I was referring to us approaching players like Henry Ryan and Willian were we weren't prepared to offer that little extra to get our man but we are prepared to do it for the likes of Carroll, Downing, Lovren, Lallana, etc.
