Jack had another very good performance for England. The Ox was very good. So was Welbeck. Thank God Gibbs didn't start that game. A game of such intensity leaves us counting down until Gibbs limps off. The game on Saturday should be interesting. I would have Jack start that game in place of Ramsey. Any word on Arteta? I've been thinking with Ramsey and Santi playing so poorly these days, how about we play Alexis as #10. With Ox and Theo out wide. Jack and Arteta/Flamini sitting in front of the back 4. Jack will need to play exactly how he has been playing for England. That sort of quarter back deep lying play maker, like Xavi Alonso and Paul Scholes. He seems to me to be that type of player. He has a variety of passes in his arsenal, and having players like Welbeck and Theo willing to run behind. Alexis could be our roaming #10. His ability to take players out the game could work in our favor in that position. Different in style from Ozil, I think he guile and directness will give us some thing different. With these forward players we could easily morph into a 4-4-2 if needed, with Alexis+Welbeck or Theo+Welbeck combinations. My team would look like this: please log in to view this image
I'm not sure Walcott is ready to start a game like this. Would be good to see him get a decent amount of time though. For me Flamini has been soo poor he deserves to be dropped. Wilshere has played very well in the deep lying role for England I wonder if its worth giving him a game there. I would like to see Wenger give a 4-2-2 Diamond a go. ---------------------Sczezney--------------------- Bellerin--------BFG------Chambers--------Gibbs --------------------Wilshere----------------------- ------Ramsey-----------------Chamberlain------- ---------------------Carzorla---------------------- ---------Sanchez--------------Wellbeck----------
This keeps our attacking play too narrow I think. I worry about Wilshere defensively, so I would play Arteta of Flamini beside him. He will need to minimize his ball-hugging and invitation of tackles. Watching him for England just brought flashes of Scholes. He needs to keep it simple and keep us ticking over and watching for runs from our forward line.
Yup the diamond formation can be a little narrow at times but it gives us greater numbers through the middle. In recent games our midfield has been passed with ease - Flamini is constantly out of position. With the squad we have I actually think its the best set-up for us. We seem to collect Central midfielders.. this way we can actually use them. Plus I think both Sanchez and Alexis will benefit.
Time for you guys to get a win with style over your nemisis club. Playing Manchester United must weigh heavily in the mindset of Arsene Wenger - he worries to much about them and this is then transmitted to the players.
Yeah I've been saying this for years. Wenger's obvious anxiety in the big games reflects on our team particularly the younger players.
I don't think diaby will ever be fit unfortunately a fit diaby would be one of the best midfielders in the league
Maybe if we can just get Diaby to accept the fact that he'll always be injured, then we could start with him - he could cut RVP and Rooney in half, leave them writhing on the ground in agony, and then we'd stretcher off Diaby and put on a fit midfielder...
As well as you guys are playing at the moment I doubt you guys will be a rival to us and United getting top 4 at the end of the season
Maybe not, but Arsenal are the closest "top 4" club (except City and Chelsea) to us and they're 8 points behind! That's a big gap.
