Tate wasn't up to P.L. standard, and he would have been aware of that. Heck,he struggled in the Championship.

"Laudrup...thoughtlessnes toward Tate...seemingly,lack of respect". Not how I remember it.
Laudrup had a duty to put a team in the field that was fit for purpose, and Tate simply didn't make the cut.
That's not showing a lack of respect, that's a Manager doing his job.
Sometimes difficult decisions have to be made. It happens throughout life.

Tate's last game in the PL was the 3-0 demolition at home to Everton. He was kind of exposed in that game, although I'm sure if you put him in against a bottom 5 side in the PL he'd cope. He deserves a testimonial and maybe that will be scheduled for this Summer where he can pull on the white of Swansea one last time.

The fact is, he could probably earn a better wage playing in League 1 and 2 than coaching the kids/working in the community in Swansea. He'll probably move down the Swansea once he's hung his boots up - he loves the place that much - but a footballer's career is short and while you're still fit and able to play the game professionally, you should play it and earn/save your money.

Laudrup was as subtle as a toothache , its a danish thing in part . How Laudrup picked his team has nothing to do with how you treat people Vetch .Laudrup is a European Legend but Tate is a Swansea Legend and Michael was a Swansea manager at the time.
That was a horrible game Tate had Kidderz , ,

I just don't see where you get Laudrup's antipathy towards Tate from. Perhaps that's a Canadian "thing".

"subtle as toothache" really?

Tate was excellent in the Championship and unlike his successor wasn't a liability. He would have been good in the Prem. The same was each level we climbed, the same was said of Leon, Ash, Monk and Williams.

Laudrup never did his job ... keep up.

Well, without wishing to upset any apple carts,he did a good enough job to finish in the top ten;win the League Cup,and take the Club on a reasonably successful European journey.

Clearly,he "never did his job".

Now,many Club's,and their fans', would be delighted to have such an indolent Manager, producing such a level of failure. <laugh>

I think Bob is being sarcastic there Vetch ;)

Laudrup is , was and probably will be my favorite manager ever . Just felt he had an undeserved indifference toward Tate , nothing more . Amazing what you can make of things at times when you stray from what was being said.

Tatey Rules, a true legend of the club that played his part but it has come to the stage now that he has past his prime but still good enough for the lower leagues for a couple of years at least. the same will happen to leon very soon, He is also coming to the end but because he has had more chances than tate will last a bit longer for the little man,

Tate was very instrumental in our rise to the top, shame he was so exposed at this level once we got here, no shame in that, he just was not quick enough mentally or physically for top flight football, and his age is now against him, but he was always a fans favourite, and the club should give him a testimonial, or some kind of send off, he deserves that much at least..........<ok>

How many PL games did Tate play under Rodgers?

My research indicates Rodgers was manager from 16 Jul 10 to 1 Jun 12, season 10/11 Tate played 48 matches (40 League, 1 Cup, 4 League Cup, 3 other) and 11/12 6 matches, (5 League, 1 League Cup) total of 54 matches. 12/13 he played 3 League and 1 League Cup games before being loand to Leeds for 11 appearances. 13/14 loaned to Yeovil for 6 appearances.
