Well the first half at Fratton Park today was one of the worst in terms of quality and entertainment I've ever seen. It's remarkable how many players in League 2 are incapable of playing a decent pass, or controlling one. The second half was much better, and the Portsmouth fans made an impressive noise. Danny Hollands was in the middle for Pompey, in a more forward role than he tended to play with us, and to be honest didn't make much of an impression apart from one decent effort the keeper tipped over the bar. It makes a change watching a football match as a neutral. I actually enjoyed the game (well, the second half at least), whereas even when Charlton win I can rarely savour the experience as I'm too busy fretting we'll blow it.
Fair play, Dickp. I've been put off by the weather. And fair play to the new drainage system if the game goes ahead- there's no way it would have survived this weather last year.
It's that dreaded time again - is it me or does it seem to be more frequent this season? Just as we start to get back in the flow of Championship football it stops. This was the one thing I liked about League One - not so many breaks! I think if you had 3 internationals in your squad then your game were postponed, but only seem to remember that affecting Leeds at the time.
It is not just you Super, it is a feeling shared by most football fans. It is even more frustrating this time because England are such a pointless team, in such a pointless group. Who are they playing this weekend...is it the Falklands Ialands...a team comprised of 11 penguins.
Their second game is against Scotand, so expect a spate of injuries from both teams, resulting in a 'B'-team match.
Are England playing Scotland again? God, that shows how little attention I've paid to either national side recently.
Used to love League One for the simple reason that you wouldnt stop for the International Breaks... Really thought that we'd hit the last one of the year at the beginning of October. Maybe Football should follow the Rugby way with Internationals... Club games continue yet the players on duty get replaced with youngsters (Who gain experience and are given an opportunity to try and prove themselves)... Of course FIFA probably wouldnt allow this as like the Champions League Final, no league games would be allowed because it would prove that no one cares about FIFA!!
For expressing UKIP- like views about our player recruitment policy allegedly, although Doug's post is actually libellous in the real world. For the record, I don't support UKIP and have never, and would never, vote for them. Wasted vote. I have no problem with the hundreds of thousands who do however, and resent some of the ways this country is moving forwards
Logically, if everyone who thought it was a wasted vote actually voted then it wouldn't be a wasted vote, it would be a significant vote. Apathy rules, or doesn't and who cares anyway
The electoral system is stacked against them Willy. They will do a lot of damage, but not win many seats.
