For me, it is because this was the first manager who was actually sacked in quite some time, it split th efans down the middle of who supported Laudrup and who wanted him gone. I then created an "im right, your wrong" sort of feeling, so every-time Monk does well you get the ones against Laudrup singing his praises, and the the opposite when Monk does badly, you get those saying Laudrup would have been better,

The others left, so we had no choice in the matter.

I see where you are coming from, swans. The sacking, and the way it was carried out, created a scenario ripe for division.
But it's not just the two opposite camps,it's the attempt by some to completely air brush Laudrup from the Club's history.
We all want the Club to be successful, regardless of who is Manager, but let right be done, I say.

True

Laudrup was a great player but Martinez, Sousa and Rodgers were all better managers and Monk has made a decent start.

After reading through some of the tripe posted in Laudrops favour, and all the post on this sad thread, this one above is the most intelligent of all!.................<ok>

Laudrop was only interested in Swansea City as a vehicle for his own ego, his managerial skills and tactics were zero, and of all our recent managers, he alone stands out as the one who was sacked for his incompetence. There is some mileage in my view, of Dia's view that Laudrup benefited from the momentum of his predecessor Rodgers, and when that melted away at the end of his very first season we couldn't buy a win. And for the intellectually challenged on here, a chimpanzee could have got our well oiled team to beat Bradford in the cup final, let alone some local fans that now the team well.

I'm not blinded by the cup win and neither were our board, so just think about that for a minute, and then when you have fully understood that, then maybe you will not be surprised that he is now flexing his considerable skills with Camel Jockey's?.................<laugh>

<yikes> .... Apparently we can thank Rodgers (Called 'Brenda' by some <whistle>) for our 9th position and the Cup win.

Oh, and we also have to thank Liverpool and Chelsea for rolling over on the way because the Final didn't count, see. <laugh>

Cheers, guys. <ok>

Oh dear, the resident clown has returned.

Phil and Dai. What a delightful, unenlightened pair they are. Penclawdd's finest. Laverbread between the ears, pumped in fresh every day.

Between the two of them, they produce more rubbish than Swansea Council will ever be called on to deal with. <laugh>

Yea all that momentum rodgers gave.

Last 9 results in prem league for rodgers? 2 wins 2 draws 5 losses

So "some issues" is the inability to score goals. I see it all clearly now. Written in code then?

I still don't get your insistence re posters constantly criticising Monk. Aren't people allowed an honest opinion,or two? Is Monk that fragile a person?

Criticise Laudrup - vile creature
Criticise Monk - honest opinion

Wish I could use that logic.

It was doing ok until you started to contribute to the thread <ok>

Well that's not very nice. <laugh>

Sorry DB but he is right, you did indeed state that the thread should be closed but you failed to do anything to keep it civil. You have technically tried to get the thread closed for your own reasons and not for the good of the community.

I do hope we can have a good discussion on the subject one day and that will start when people don't think a topic is taboo.

Like criticising Monk?

Badoom-tish.

I didn't say the thread should be closed. I said I thought it would be but Valley said it was OK and that's his decision. The OP suggested it be taken down but don't let facts get in the way, mate.

I merely joined in the discussion as suggested. I set out a logical, reasoned argument for my decision as asked by the OP - unlike some who split the seasons and added provisos. I criticised those (not necessarily on this board but if the cap fits) for trying to airbrush Laudrup's achievements out of our history - a flat-earth approach that defies logic. We've even had one guy on today saying that winning the Cup was in fact a Rodgers achievement. <doh> In no way did I criticise those who felt Monk was the better manager for other reasons. Check the post again.

In fact I also stated that Monk has done very well and may, in time, prove to be the better manager. Who knows? I insulted nobody directly and breached not a single rule.

Yes I really tried to get the thread closed down. <doh>

Just because you didn't directly insult anyone it doesn't excuse you of trying to derail the thread into a us versus them scenario, and I understand there are some here who are washing away Laudrups achievements but that doesn't excuse you for baiting them into their less than desirable retaliating responses.

The fact remains you questioned the validity of this thread based on the premise that it may cause friction, them you became the instigator of said friction later after the thread was developing harmoniously. Stealth wumming is still wumming.

"Stealth wumming" - what a ridiculous term. You sound like a mod. <whistle> If I was derailing a thread my post would have been removed I'm sure.

FYI Project I questioned the validity of the thread because I thought it would cause problems and I believed that Valley would delete it - as did the OP if you check. He specifically asked for it to be taken down. Valley said no, he was OK with it so let's debate, no problem. There was 'friction' because Valley took exception to my post. Nobody else did.

If people take offence because I think that anyone who disputes unequivocal fact is a knuckle-dragger that's their problem, not mine. I'm sure there's better ways to derail a thread if I was that way inclined.
