I used to think i hated it, just the thought of what it is and pretty sure i had it as a kid and hated it, but had some the other week (39 now) and it wasnt as bad as i had envisioned, wouldnt say I loved it but it wasnt a gross out either.

I had a similar revelation in Antigua in Feb with spinach.
