The way people were banging on about it at work I was expecting something outrageously good. It was good, but not like people (Spurs fans) were making out. Someone even said it was the best goal ever scored in football <doh>

<laugh> Yeah, heard similar and was expecting more. Its a smart finish but jeez.......Think it was Vertonghen who was supposed to
have said something mad like 'best goal ever'

I think what amazed people about it, was the fact that he managed to generate that amount of power and score from outside the box with that technique.

It was very special tbf, I've never seen anything like it.

It was very good - but the descriptions I was being told were way off the mark <laugh>

No getting away from the fact it was a great goal....but best goal ever scored!!! No where near.

At least he publicly apologised for sticking the nut on a reporter.

He's never laid a DJ out for refusing to stick on Phil Collins though......as I'm sure you'd also view the perpetrator of an act like that as 'vile' as well <whistle>

The vilest thing about that shenanigans, as I was told about it by someone who said they were there, was that SG got his crew to lay the guy out after being dragged away from their initial handbags. No wonder he - allegedly- hardly ever goes out now. Despicable, if true.

Seriously? Technique wise it's one of the best I've seen. To generate the power from outside the box as well as get the direction (went in near enough top corner) as well.

Not the best goal ever scored (it's hard to say best ever because so many different types like headers, volleys, long range, audacious etc) but for having the sheer balls to attempt it gotta give the guy a lot of credit. He could have made a total mess and been like David Dunn appearing on Soccer AM's showboat falling over while attempting it <laugh>

I see that differently. He SHOULD have hit it with his right foot. It was all setup for a right side foot into the net but he was scared of using his swinger. He opted to use his preferred left and nine times out of ten, it goes nowhere near the goal. I wouldn't say he was totally brave for taking it on, I'd say kudos for taking the shot on but he **** out of the shot it should have been.

But 9 times out of 10 it would have gone no where with his right foot so...

Ridiculous thing to do at 1-0, he should have hit it with his right and made sure, i wonder what people would be saying if he hadn`t scored.

Try it yourself in the garden Gerrez, you will find it is easier to do with your worst foot as the balance is much better if you stand on youyr best foot (espescially if you are moving towards it) <ok>

Disagree. Using his wrong foot he would hit the target at least 5 times out of ten as his body shape was setup for it. Play the percentages. IF they'd been 2-0 up or more then fine, but at 1-0? Not for me.

Football's an entertainment business and we pay good money to see some of the best players in the world plying their trade. The audacious piece of skill the lad pulled off the other day was sublime and will be watched over and over again for years. That's part of what the game is all about, moments like that. People still talk about Frank Worthington goal from 1979 and Rickie Villas Cup Final goal from 81. If they'd have 'played the percentages' neither would have happened.

Fixed. <ok>

West Ham 1-0 up against City.

Finishes like this and we win we go a point behind City <yikes>
