Monk, was very dismissive when asked in a televised interview, "would he have Michu back"?
"No" was his instant response and he went on "people who don't want to be here are no good to me".

In my opinion, that response said much, It says that Monk was deeply hurt by Michu asking to leave, maybe Michu meant to hurt him, who knows. They were not close before were they, each blaming the other for something neither probably had anything to do with. Monks response though was instantaneous, not a nano second passed between the question and response which in my view showed it to be a 'trigger response' akin to, "do you miss your Ex?" would trigger "Fekk off, no", from someone with hurtful memories.

This suggests that at some point there was a mutual respect which has been eroded to the point of tearing an unbridgeable chasm between them.

What happened, this is what I think; its also the same reason we have a wum fuelled split on our very own forum.

In my view the split, highlighted yet again in the thread, and the squad stems directly from who is claiming the responsibility and subsequent bragging rights for responsible for the success our club achieved two years ago.

Clique 1 = Michu's group including Laudrup, his staff and his signings.
They appear to claim the success of two years ago, heralded by their arrival and completely owned by them and them alone. They pay little if any heed to the club prior to their arrival and pay little credence to us before them.

Clique 2 = The Board, Monk, senior staff and senior players.
They felt that the success of two seasons ago was purely down to their hard work and the meticulous laying of deep foundations steady enough to support a carefree platform for clique 1 to perform on. They feel that clique 1 simply stood on the shoulders of every one who'd gone before at the club and were simply the lucky few who happened to be there to reap the rewards when they came.

........ and the school yard dick measuring competition continues on our board. My side did this, your side said that. If my side said this then your side wouldn't have done that. Never about football or Silly isn't it and I don't care any more, both sides are right and both wrong, both have merit and both are complete and utter crap. Driven by members, fuelled by wums.

Back to 12/13 Michu no other manifestations. Who would he replace?

Siggy: Getting many press accolades which I personally think doesn't tell the whole story. Apart from a few bright moments he's been poor for us. Icelandic performances aside, Siggy's has been great but only in short measure, that is when he has time and space (not Einstein). Conversely, when our midfield is pressed, tackles start going time becomes short and space hard to come by Sigy becomes invisible and anonymous. Any opposition pressing our midfield easily shuts Siggy down completely. Obvious choice for me Michu for Siggy.

Gomis: seems a bit displaced to me. He appears to have the talent and physique yet is always a step off where he needs to be, the ball is always a yard too far for him. As a second striker he currently is not the danger we would like him to be, but comparing him to Michu, he was not either. On the very few occasions Michu and Bony played together Michu didn't show anything to suggest he was comfortable sharing the point with anyone. I don't see Michu as being any better than Gomis in the support strikers role.

Bony: Irreplaceable imo, not prolific so far but absolutely key to our game. His hold up, lay off, play should launch more than it actually does but the problem remains the same, currently we don't have anyone to play off him or even with him. We lack the strong running, marauding AM hell bent on getting into the box a la Michu, Siggy just doesn't play that way and Gomis is still bedding into our game.

Michu as a direct replacement for Bony is a big no, as a secondary striker, again a no, as an AM absolutely yes.

Will he come back?
I'd love it to happen but not in a million years, Monk will resign and Michu would give up football before that ever happened.

Excellent post Stumpy and thanks for reminding me of that interview where Monk confirmed Michu did not want to be here, I knew I had this issue correct, and you have only confirmed my view. I would love Michu to play for us again, but it will never happen as you have so comprehensively pointed out. It seems that one or two, or maybe just one sad individual cannot move on, and cannot wait for Monk to fail, this same individual pops up on every thread with his bitter vindictive attacks on Monk, everything is Monks fault from Laudrop going, to Michu not playing, from the Spanish rebels being kicked out, yet Monk at the time was simply a player recovering from an injury, It was our board that took most of these decisions, which simply had to be made, we could not have the rot continuing, with splits in the dressing room, the trouble makers were sent packing, and I have no problem with that, and Neither did Rangel, or Amat, who have been exemplary throughout all this. Anyway top post mate..............<ok>

Fernandez and Gomis cost a lot of wages , never mind the 7 million cost to bring Fernandez here in the first place , not really impressed with neither as minutes come theyre way . Gomis was running around when he came on yesterday without a thought what he was doing . Fernandez is ok but not worth.what we payed .Fernandez and Williams for that matter, looked nothing less than pitiful leading up to the 2nd goal yesterday. Some want to blame Taylor but the guy that put the 2nd goal was in line with the right goal post....i was amazed Taylor even got near the guy

Your like a poisoned dwarf around here, full of self serving bile, Plastic has your number and so do many others, such a sad odious little keyboard warrior..............<ok>

Thank you for your kind words. I think the more informed posters know where you're coming from.

Taylor was marking him and it's the position Taylor takes up when he's supposed to be defending wide. <doh>

Fernandez didn't have a good game, but where was our captain Ashley Williams? Why didn't he keep the backline organised and tight? as for Gomis well I must admit he hasn't impressed me yet, Emnes looks more capable to me..............<ok>

Taylor wasnt marking the goalscorer, he was left holding the bag when the CB's went missing .Taylor might be responsible for the left post but not the right post and unless im mistaken , the guy headef it straight inside the right post .. could be wrong

Our keeper was at fault there Breezy, Fab should have got to that, watch the video again if you get the chance, I know our defending was poor but our keeper didn't cover himself in any glory when trying to save that one!..............<ok>

Well,I don't recall that.

So whose fault is that then Vetch?

What I DO recall, however,is the disgusting way that you,and some others, turned your bile and hatred on Laudrup.

Rubbish the man was incompetent and relegating us, he deserved to go, get over it, you really are sounding ridiculous.

You put your money on Monk, and the world and his dog knows that.

It's called getting behind the manager and supporting until you can do otherwise

Poor results now have you backtracking.

So you say, we all know you cannot wait to see him fail, get a life.

Watch your back,Garry, the backstabbers are dusting down their scabbards.

How childish, the only backstabber on here is you, and add to that snipping aswell

All answered, enjoy!..................<ok>

When you can produce some facts to substantiate your claim that he did refuse to play, then, and only then, will I believe your assertion.

See stumpy's post regarding Monks interview, all answered comprehensively, do try and keep up with events aye

Since it is now clear that you will not be able to do so,we only have your word for it,and your word has as much value as an Italian Lira.

Well now you have mine and another posters, I refer you to Stumpy's post once again, so much for your Italian Lira aye

You really do need to stop making things up.

I think it's you who is making up things, clearly old age doesn't come alone

Now the next time you post try and contribute constructively instead of all this garbage you keep spouting, your coming across quite sad and bitter...........<ok>

Michu had his nose pout out of joint as he was no longer the No1 striker and he did not like it. As it turned out napoli are paying his wages for this season and he has been a dud for them so it looks like they will send him back when his contract is over, In the meantime they are stuck with him and his wages....

to me Michu was always an AM. Last season he just didn't seem interested even after his injury. Really surprised he wasn't sold. If as Dai mentioned above Napoli are paying his wages all good. Michu or Gomis, jury out on that one, probably Michu if his attitude improved

So,you are STILL unable to provide actual PROOF,(hearsay is not PROOF), that Michu refused to play for the team.

Why keep on about it?

Your obsession with pursuing me is now becoming an unseemly embarrassment.

The only one with an Obsession on here is you, with your Laudrop crap, If I shoved the proof up your rear end you still wouldn't believe it, your like Norah bloody batty.............<ok>

Good way of looking at it Dai, nice one.............<ok>

Man up,and produce the PROOF as requested. You could however, just learn to think before you click.

Michu was never the "No.1 striker".

"He did not like it". Spoke to him,did you. Close buddies then,eh,if he told you that. I'm impressed.

For the second half of Laudrup's first season, Michu was the Number 1 striker. Graham left in January and Michu picked up the mantle up front. He scored 11 of his 22 goals from this position that season.

Jesus Christ. Phil and Vetch, if you are incapable of replying to each other in a mature way and must rhetort to insults, just put each other on ignore FFS.
