Now there's something you don't often hear together - Garry Monk & glittering career.

A so-so centre back who needed Paulo Sousa to teach him how to defend a corner.
A lower league player who fed off Ash Williams to extend his career.

I know, Bob. Like you, I'm more worried about whether he's got a glittering career in management. No, not Gary Glitter.

Well would you put money on a horse that hasn't run before? You do recall I was not impressed with Monk being selected, but at the end of the day he's doing his best, and I will stick with him until he's gone.........

I actually recall you blowing that cigar smoke up his ass since day one, and everyone knows it. <laugh>

Yet if it wasn't for this incompetent defender, we wouldn't be in the premier league. You on the other hand Bob are a former CL winning centre back I suppose?

I don't want to start another character assassination on Monk but you don't have to have been a competent player or even played the game to offer an opinion, Valley.

Yes, Monk's block was crucial in that game but we also almost threw away a three goal lead too from poor defending. In addition, how can anyone describe his playing career as anything but ordinary? It was clear from day one in the Prem he wasn't up tp playing at this level.

Whether you are pro Monk, anti Monk, pro Laudrup or anti Laudrup, let's have some common sense. Comparing the two in terms of playing career is like comparing Tesco plonk and Moet.

Comparing playing careers between managers is a mute point at any level, which is why I am perplexed as to where this conversation is going. Mourinho wasn't as good as Steve Bruce as a player but I know which manager I'd rather have.

Nonetheless Monk has had a very good career regardless of how he coped at PL level. I recall him doing fine when called upon under Rodgers in the PL. There's no shame in that. But there is also no need for Bob to try and belittle the mans career with us.

Well I agree it's not helpful, nor does it advance the debate.

He's the guy I called out for wanting our club to fail if you remember, his hatred of Monk was called out a long time ago and yet he still thinks he is a Swans fan. No Swans fan wants the team to fail.

You have to assume we're all swans fans Project, even if we disagree. Bob is no different. <ok>

I stand by my opinion, he was a good player in the lower leagues but could not defend a set piece to save his life. At Championship level he was decent enough but as I recalls had quite a few injuries and it was Ashley Williams who proved to be the backbone of the defence along with Alan Tate and Rangel. I also recall quite an anti-Monk sentiment during the Martinez rein. He was found wanting in the Prem by both managers.

As I said it took Sousa to teach us how to defend ... Monk included.

And for a good reason, there were far too many Laudrop Sycophants crying on here, it was embarrassing, but prior to me blowing smoke Monks way, try to reflect on the period before where I stated that 'most jacks would be unimpressed if Monk is given the Managers job' anyway I prefer to get behind the manager until it's impossible to do otherwise!....................<cheers>

That's right ... I disagreed with those who thought Monk could do no wrong.

That doesn't mean I hate Monk and certainly doesn't mean I want the Swans to fail - an utterly stupid suggestion.

The reason I din't want Monk in charge is being played out with our club - the reason I didn't want Monk as manager is because I want our club to be successful - the reason I didn't want Monk appointed was because he has very very little experience at this level - the reason I didn't want Monk appointed was because his name cropped up over and over when there has been unrest in the club.

The reason I question Monk staying on is because we are making the same mistakes in every game and I see no reason to believe it will change while he in charge.

And who are you to decide who is and isn't a Swan fan?

Yes, Laudrup was an amazing player. I'd say he was probably one of the most gifted players in the history of the game. If any D's needed to be sucked in like a little spaghetti I'd go for him. Jenkins was maybe right to let him go as I also think ML can be an oddball. And maybe doesn't suit the British culture. He isn't a warm father like Harry Redknapp or Steve Bruce. Mourinho didn't play the game, but like Van Gaal i think he's a psychologist you understands football and has an eye for detail. This is what I feared with Monk, I still think he's too thick unfortunately.

Anyway I thought this thread was about Michu not Monk? so to get back on track, Michu will be an interesting dilemma after this seasons flop at Napoli, so which way do you see this playing out lads? and don't be shy, will he play for us again, after all the 'Libertarian' and his followers feel sure he has not refused to put on a Swansea shirt, so what do you think?.......<cheers>

Could come back as Ki has - let's not forget he did score 6 in 24 outings for us last season (1 goal every 4 games) when his body was crocked and his mind was elsewhere.
That was 28 in 67 (goal every 2.4 games) games overall is handy for a midfield player.

    Well,I don't recall that.

What I DO recall, however,is the disgusting way that you,and some others, turned your bile and hatred on Laudrup.

You put your money on Monk, and the world and his dog knows that.

Poor results now have you backtracking.

Watch your back,Garry, the backstabbers are dusting down their scabbards.

When you can produce some facts to substantiate your claim that he did refuse to play, then, and only then, will I believe your assertion.

Since it is now clear that you will not be able to do so,we only have your word for it,and your word has as much value as an Italian Lira.

You really do need to stop making things up.
