Rooted to the foot of the table, R’s boss Harry Redknapp will be demanding an improved performance from his charges in front of the live Sky Sports cameras. Sunday’s clash will no doubt bring memories flooding back of Rangers’ memorable 3-2 win against the Reds in March 2012, when Jamie Mackie’s last-gasp goal capped an unbelievable comeback under the Loftus Road lights. Midfield duo Joey Barton and Jordon Mutch are both sidelined with hamstring injuries, but Niko Kranjcar (broken toe) is expected to have an injection in a bid to be fit to play. Chilean duo Mauricio Isla and Eduardo Vargas are both likely to be assessed before Sunday’s game following their international outings this week. Liverpool, meanwhile, have endured a surprisingly tough start to the season. The loss of Luis Suarez to Barcelona, coupled with a handful of key injuries, has seen the Kopites – who finished runners-up last term – struggle with consistency in the opening two months of the campaign. Indeed, they currently sit ninth in the top-flight, with ten points from a possible 21. The Reds could recall fit-again hot-shot Daniel Sturridge to their starting XI following the international break, but defender Dejan Lovren is a doubt with the abdominal injury that saw him withdraw from Croatia’s Euro 2016 qualifier against Bulgaria on Friday. There are also question marks regarding the fitness of former QPR youth starlet Raheem Sterling, who complained of feeling tired ahead of England’s win over Estonia on Sunday. They came up just short, but I think they probably deserved to win it. “They have lost the fourth best player in the world in Suarez. “They’ve brought players in but it takes time for them to bed in. “I don’t see them winning the League but I fancy them to challenge for a Champions League place.” please log in to view this image BET VICTOR QPR win: 5/1 Draw: 14/5 Liverpool win: 4/7 LAST MEETING - QPR V LIVERPOOL Liverpool 1, QPR 0 – Premier League – Sunday 19th May 2013 Scorers: Liverpool – Coutinho HEAD TO HEAD - QPR V LIVERPOOL QPR wins: 8 Draws: 8 Liverpool wins: 33 MATCH OFFICIALS - Referee: P Dowd Assistant Referee: S Ledger & R West 4th Official: N Swarbrick Celebrity Fans please log in to view this image Victoria Coren - QPR please log in to view this image Dublin GAA Star Paul Brogan and Ireland's Miss World 2003 Rosanna Davison please log in to view this image Happy Birthday Clint Hill ( 36 Today ) please log in to view this image please log in to view this image
I thought their biggest defeat was 3-1 at Hull, how we could do with a morale-booster win like that!...
BREAKING TEAM NEWS: Bobby Zamora wears the captain's armband for #QPRvLIV. Here is today's #QPR side to face @LFC... Inbäddad bildlänk Can somebody cut and paste, I can't, apparently.
Ferdinand is dropped for..........Dunne? 3-5-2 with Isla and YSY... Zamora upfront with Charlie, game on...
----------------McCarthy---------------- -------Onuoha--Dunne--Caulker------- --Isla------------------------------YSY-- ---------Sandro--Fer--Henry----------- ------------Austin --Zamora------------ Adel not even on bench...
So he has dropped Ferdinand and playing YSY, forced into McCarthy apparently. So this is close to the team a lot of people have been calling for(Dunne the exception) - expectations? The doubter in mean thinks still gonna lose but the optimist thinks we might be able to sneak something if they all show the right desire.
Sounds cr*p for me, especially Dunne in a 3. No Nico who has been our best, no Adel and no creativity. Traore doesn't deserve to be dropped either.
Is Adel injured/ill/been throwing his toys out of the pram? Can't see anything wrong with Dunne coming in if he is 100% fit. That is a no-nonsense back three.
I like that team, except that we have three defensive midfielders really there, one of them should have been swapped with hoilett or krancs to support the front two.
please log in to view this image I'm excited by that lineup. It could all go tits up but that should make for an interesting game. 3-5-2 caused Liverpool several problems last season, Hull away and Villa at home comes to mind.
My concern is none of the three centrebacks are particularly comfortable on the ball, Sandro and Henry as defensive cover will help but it seems a bit experimental... Rio has groin problem apparently...
I seem to recall after the MK Dons farce that he was quick to say people had been demanding certain players start so he gave them the chance and they proved to everyone why he was right not to have played them before. It's a tactical masterstroke for him - bugger the match. If they play well and we get something out of the game it will be his tactical genius - if they don't he'll tell us at length how he told us so.
"We're at home and we've got to have a go." Harry Redknapp (today) Lets hope it's more than just words.
