several watford fans came on our board proclaiming MM was an outstanding boss before we got him. we were unconvinced but many watford fans said he was working on one of the lowest budgets in the league. if you have no money then it is quite likely you will be fighting relegation, especially as many of you said you overachieved under MM.

Yep, and we will...if we can afford them which he knows is our problem. We finished 14th, i guess you'll be happy with that...

Nobody would deny his achievement. The praise ended when he stabbed Watford in the back and kept wielding the knife, and he's not finished yet. Good manager? yes. Honourable? Nowhere close. Not the sort of person we want at our club. You're welcome.

As Hornette said, the problem isn't with Cowie. I absolutely adore him as a footballer, and have always felt that he was underrated. He cost us nothing, did very well, honoured his contract it seems, and left for nothing.

There are nonetheless some pretty basic questions to be asked.

LESS OF THE ANTI SCOTTISH BOLLOX. WHAT WOULD YOU HAVE SAID IF HE WAS ENGLISH "GOSH WHAT A JOLLY ROTTEN FELLOW" Grow up MM has left he has taken the backroom staff and taken one of our players, DC was a free agent as he would not commit to a new contract, Conway was never ours yes we were interested but that was all, as for Taylor he was after the money other wise he would have joined earlier this year!

I will gladly meet up with anyone and give a taste of Scotland if you so wish! But less of the Anti Scotland!!!!!

Jesus, I can not believe how disappointed I am that Cowie has left.

Thank god for some promising youngsters, but is this now to much pressure?!

It is amazing how rapidly my opinion of Malky has dropped. I wasn't too bothered with him going, and the way he went. But it does now appear he is using his knowledge of Watford FC for the benefit of Cardiff, without a care on the effect it is going to have on an already struggling club.

But still, life is hard. It would be boring if everything went according to plan.

In that case, Bassini could be the best thing that has ever happened to the club <laugh>

(I'm only laughing because the alternative is to cry)

Its a big disappointment for sure - I had no idea he was out of contract - am surprised by the tone of some peoples frustration though. Football has been like this for a long while now (sadly). Lets hope we get some talent in to replace all that have left.

For the Cardiff fans re Cowie, he's a steady Championship player who was good for a team that didn't have any pressure on it for a promotion push. He's not the sort of player you should be looking at if you have ambitions of the PL - you'll see that for yourself when he's up against Nolan (and, as things stand, Parker) on the opening day.

This is all very disappointing but I think it is the surprise that is what is causing most of anger. If this had been discussed as a possible move over the past few weeks I suspect we would not have been particularly shocked and would have met the news with a resignated acceptance. To be fair we are only so annoyed because we realise Malky and Cowie are both big losses and deny as much (even to the unnecessarily belligerent Cardiff fans) is rather pointless.

I am now entering a period of resigned pessimism, sorry folks.

I think what makes it worse is that its a shock to us , obviously the club weren't going to advertise we hadnt managed to secure his extension signature as it'd invite more unwanted attention, it just feels underhand, premeditated and a deliberate ploy by malky and who knows who else to separate club from player. At the end of the day there are more cowies up here in the highland league and its up to wilson to snare a couple. If only the club could balance things up with a few more ins before we see any more outs. It doesn't feel like we're assembling for the new season more like dismantling....

I was initially very angry upon hearing this news, but after sitting back and thinking about it, its not all bad.

Firstly, Cowies departure frees up yet more manoeuverability in the wage budget, and we have plenty of time to find a replacement. He is certain to have been one of our higher earners, now we can bring in someone slightly younger on a lower wage - yes, our squad is somewhat lacking in experience, but in the attacking midfield areas you need young legs. It also allows Dyche to further his personalisation of the squad.

Secondly, i would like nothing more than for Malky to fail. And the fact is he is now pinning his midfield hopes on Cowie, a player who did well in a depleted, inexperienced, and fairly unambitious squad, but one who will struggle in a team looking to push for promotion - this isnt sour grapes, its an observation.

Sure we've lost a decent player, but its not like we couldnt see it coming, and i for one look forward to seeing more new faces at Watford.

When we speculated that Cowie might leave, I am sure we all thought that it would only be for a sizeable fee. A free transfer! What a disaster! If negotiations have been going on for some months about a contract extension, why was it not finalised? Who let that one slip? At least that would have ensured a fee if he had it in mind to move on, after establishing himself in English football ......Malky should have forced a contract to a conclusion in his last months........unless he knew he himself would be leaving, and was planning to bring a good player with him on the cheap, to whatever club he planned to join.....no, that would be too sneaky....

I am afraid the club must be looking increasingly unattractive to ambitious players, and we may find it hard to recruit and retain players of any quality--this will apply to loans too..expect Malky to snap up Weimann next. Oh , and he has his eye on the curtains in the managers office....

Hey Guys and Gals, Saints fan in peace. A good friend of mine is a huge 'Orns fan and I have alot of time for your club, so i'm sorry to see these latest goings on.
Just wondering on wether you have a ready made replacement on your new signing, Forsyth is it? I have tried to look but all I can see is he is a midfielder, so if he is central maybe he is a younger Cowie in the making, or is he more out wide, replacing Buckley maybe? Just trying to be positive - you will be fine, like us, we are a rare breed of club that actually MAKES players!!
And worry not about next season as you have a guarenteed 6 points off us - we never seem to beat you!!!!
