I think Bentley believed all the hype and thought he just had to turn up to be a success. He seems to admit himself that he didn't have the drive or character to be a top player i.e to play at or near your best week in, week out and accept the team ethic. Ironically, for all the sidelines and distractions, Beckham was able to make the most of his talent as a player.
He was being grilled one particular match by the old 606ers and then went onto score a 30 yard screamer, I had to laugh. He was a good player who I think didn't get a real chance.
Ben Flower banned for 6 months. I wonder what he would have got if he was a footballer ? A three match ban ?
They don't tolerate indiscipline in RL. Look at the size of the bloke. He could do serious damage. There is zero tolerance of that kind of behaviour - not to mention the fact that it cost Wigan the Grand Final, so I can't think anyone at the club was very forgiving either. Football could learn a lot.
William Gallas has announced his retirement. I wonder if he'll go into coaching? Massively experienced. Maybe Redknapp could use him at QPR?
Indiscipline is not tolerated in RFU either. The game is physical enough without idiots like Flower trying to take it back 40-50 yrs. The ban in RFU would have been at least equivalent, if not harsher.
Should the thread from Spurf be opened to discussion? For example, what happens after Xmas when BRB and Minxy(?) resign. Does the site disappear? Are any Mods quitting over this (particularly here, but also elsewhere)?
Just watching Stoke vs Swansea. Shawcross wrestles Bony to the ground at a set piece. It's become so commonplace nowadays that nobody even bothers to appeal. Nevertheless, Oliver gives a penalty and books Shawcross. Don't see that very often - interesting!...
http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/29681650 Crooks is picking his team of the week when only 90% of the teams have played yet?
