Hope he goes...he is a major league dick.
Hate that we sold dawson instead of this self serving twat.
The sooner he goes the better
Was a good player and is probably still a good player but he is a poisonous cock imo

I'm glad things are as they stand. Vertonghen will be motivated to get a big club interested in him. We get a motivated Vertonghen until he gets that move. Everybody's a winner.

I was a big fan of Sanchez when he played for Chile and rate him very highly. But I think the best player Arsenal has ATM is Cazorla. He can create more out of less than anyone else Arsenal has, and I think Wenger is a little nutty in consistently trying to force him out of the lineup (in the same way that he's nutty about not getting enough defenders and DMs.) Sanchez is excellent but isn't the same kind of creator. He's more of a very hard worker who's also very fast and tough. I'm actually a little skeptical of just how good Ramsey is. I always see him picking up the garbage goals, the loose balls around the box after an attack has just missed. It's a valuable role the way Arsenal play, but I wonder how many goals he'd account for playing for us.

If it's Arsenal that wants to address their weakness, they should take Capoue, or maybe Dembele, a good DM. Lloris is a good choice as well, and better than ZZZZ, but not by the same margin that Capoue is better than Flamini. Though who would you take out of Giroud, Welbeck, Ade or Kane at this point? It would be Ade or Kane for me. Giroud will always be okay but not that good. I'm not convinced Welbeck is as good as Giroud.

  5. Tottenham's Belgium international defender Jan Vertonghen, 27, insists he is happy at the club despite deciding not to sign a new contract. (London Evening Standard)

You can all keep your effing mitts off Santi! He's my favourite player by far and I could watch him all day. I don't think there can be many people out there who are more naturally gifted with both feet as him. That and he just seems like a nice person *swoon*. He was a little indifferent at the start of last season but ended it really well. Hopefully this season is just a case of Wenger tryint to get his favourite 11 and formation ticking...and Cazorla will be integral to it!

Anyway, the reason I'd take JV is because, when on form/motivated, he's a class act. Plus he's versatile which when you've as few defenders as we have can make a huge difference. Do you guys think he's being a dick due to monies or Chumps league football (or lack thereof)? One problem I would say is almost understandable, the other...urgh.

Throwing a lot of money and status at boys for playing a game well is all too likely to produce t**ts. It's almost surprising how many players seem decent enough. I think Vertonghen is one of many who let it go to his head.

He is a good player. Some stats made him out to be just about the best defender in the world two years ago. Last year he was mediocre at best. The last couple of games he's been much better. He's about as good an attacker as any defender in terms of his skills, but his defending is very up and down, and he's slow. The player he's similar to is his buddy Vermaelen, really, though I'd say he's a bit better. Vermaelen seems like he's always been a bad defender, whereas Vertongen can be quite good, when he can be arsed.
