    Madness.

I will support the guy 100% but fear it will be just too much pressure for him.

Oh and as for Scott Young. City legend yes, but football manager no. He should be looking after the kids and not anywhere near the first team squad. is time may come but not for a very long time, and probably at non league/welsh league level. Oh hasn't he been there and failed <whistle>

Badly done on our part....had we kept quiet & waited another week or so we would have probably got him for nowt.

As soon as the O's got wind, they refused us permission to talk to him, knowing he would have to resign & therefore not only saving themselves paying compensation, but also getting compensated by us.

In other words they played a blinder & either we were extremely naaive or acted quickly to make sure we got our man.

No guarantee of that. We can't afford to hang about knowing now what we do about the current temporary regime.

The compensation cost for a decent manager (yet to be proved mind) will be minimal when you consider the cash lavished on players.

The right man would be worth millions to the club.

Agreed - however your first sentence started off by saying "badly done on our part" and went on to say "we'd probably have got him for nowt" when no one really knows the exact details.

Bit of an assumption there whiffle even though you qualified it later.

Regardless, he's who we've got. I'll back him to the hilt.

I am just glad we have a British manager who has been around the houses and has learned his trade in the lower leagues. I think it will be a good appointment.

Wonder if the LMA will back him like they did Malky. Apparently we have been accused of "tapping him up" now.

"The 53-year-old resigned as Orient boss last night, and he is now set to call in the League Managers' Association after claiming he was constructively dismissed by the League One club.

According to the Evening Standard , Slade has claimed his job was openly offered to other managers and that club chiefs informed the players he would be leaving.

It is also claimed the Os refused to allow Slade to leave despite Cardiff triggering a £100,000 release clause in his contract."

Far more to this than the obvious stuff on the surface that's already been reported - and probably more than we'll ever get to know.

So Noddy is coming to Toytown to join the other muppets we have running the show.
we can only hope he fires this squad, which is a damn good squad, and start getting results from what has been hailed one of the best Cardiff squads ever.

I think trying to appoint him could be very messy, I'm sure we're intending to, but that doesn't mean we'll be allowed to legally until this is sorted. It could take weeks.

Tan will pay out if he wants him, and he is being advised by Roeder, so he will pay what Orient want (within sensibility) and Orient are just after a payday on this, they wanted to get rid of him anyway.

Its the way of us football fans isn't it though. Lets slate the guy as a no hoper even before he is in the door. My own team.....you know the one, that little red and white one over the bridge!....appointed Steve Cotterill and the poor guy was absolutely hammered by some supporters, then one of his signings also had the same treatment as a not up to standard striker. What happened next?...saved us from relegation, top of the league now and 2nd top scorer in Wilbraham!
Russel Slade has a lot of experience in the lower leagues with quite a decent bit of success and comes across as a decent hard working chap. I am sure the majority of Bluebird fans will get behind him, but he will need to have thick skin when you hit a sticky patch as the "I told you so" brigade will be out in no time.
Good luck to the guy and yourselves, and hope to see you "up there" next term :)

To be fair, nobody here has slammed Slade, but as a club that just got relegated from the Prem league you can understand why the idea of getting a guy about to get sacked by a league one club is a little disturbing. As it stands now, everyone seems to be willing to give him a chance.

I think we all kind of have to. We don't have a choice.

Although not exactly jumping the moon over the assignment, its only fair we give him a chance to prove himself. Could turn out to be the best decision the club has made, or it could be a major flop..

    Time will tell.

Next appointment will be Glen Roeder as Director of Football meaning we will have two serial losers at the helm. What the heck is going on?

How can you appoint a league 1 manager? One that was going nowhere, he will struggle in the very unforgiving Championship, crazy decision, but then his wages will be cheap!..............<cheers>

Of course he does have experience of League 1?..................<laugh>

Well he'll have plenty of experience thats for sure ,you want to hope he's not left his comfort zone and still longs for the bright lights of Doncaster rather than Chelsea . Good luck .
