For those who know about players coming through

Any chance any of the younger kids could get called up for this? What about that Max Clark ive heard people go on about?

I assume Max will be playing for the U21's tonight, so won't be involved, we've got plenty of first team players that need game time, the kids are unlikely to get a look in unless the odd one makes the bench.

We need a successful cup run to give our 2nd string a run out every now and then. It's great having strength in depth, but the 2nd string will start getting pissed if they dont see some game time every now and then

This, but more importantly to put pressure on and create competition for places.

He is in fact a RB and a CB, but he played most of their games as a CM, according to their website...

http://www.corkcityfc.ie/home/squad/midfielders/brian-lenihan/

"Lenihan has shown himself to be an intelligent, skilled and versatile player, who can operate in defence as well as his preferred central midfield role."

That website was last updated two years ago, he's been a right back for the past two seasons and we've signed him as a right back, so I think it's likely he'll play as right back.

Several players set for chance to shine in West Brom trip....

Hatem Ben Arfa is in line to make his first Hull City start as manager Steve Bruce plans to make wholesale changes to his side for Wednesday night’s Capital One Cup 3rd Round tie at West Bromwich Albion.

Ben Arfa has played just 11 minutes of competitive football since April and has been on a special training programme since joining the Tigers on loan from Newcastle United three weeks ago.

Having made a brief appearance in the 2-2 draw with West Ham United last week, Ben Arfa is likely to start at The Hawthorns along with several other players who Bruce will give game time to.

“There will be wholesale changes,” confirmed Bruce.

“The people who need to play will play and it’s an ideal time for them to play. We did it last season in the FA Cup at Middlesbrough and I honestly believe that it’s the right way to do it because otherwise we’ll have players who don’t play for week after week after week.

“We have no reserve team as such, so behind-closed-doors games will become more and more evident for us.

“Players that haven’t been involved (in the Premier League) will play. Ben Arfa will make his full debut.

“The opportunity is there for players to put themselves in contention.”

The likes of Tom Ince and Yannick Sagbo are also amongst those set to feature against the Baggies.

Two players who definitely won’t be involved against West Brom are Gaston Ramirez and Mohamed Diame, with both cup-tied having already played for Southampton and West Ham respectively in this season’s competition.

West Brom could hand full debuts to summer signings Georgios Samaras and Sebastian Blanco against the Tigers with Baggies’ manager Alan Irvine also likely to make several changes to his side.

Would like to see Jakupovic get playing time in goal and Ben Arfa start as Bruce says he will. Even with several of the backups in we should be putting out a pretty strong team so a win is a good possibility on a ground where we've done well in recent years. I'd like to see

Jakupovic
Chester McShane Figueroa
Rosenior Meyler Livermore Brady
Ben Arfa
Ince Sagbo

Harper Bruce Maguire Huddlestone Quinn Robertson Aluko

Thats starting nine players who did not play at Newcastle

-------------Harper

McShane----Maguire----Figueroa

Rosenior--------------------------Brady
---------Livermore-- Meyler
---------------Ben Arfa

-----------Ince-----Sagbo

McGregor, Chester, Elmo, Quinn, Huddlestone, Aluko, Jelavic

Save Chester and play 3-5-2 against Man City.

I'd play this (3-4-1-2):

Harper
Chester Maguire McShane
Rosenior Meyler Quinn Brady
Ben Arfa
Ince Sagbo

Subs: Jakupovic, Figueroa, Bruce, Livermore, Aluko, Elmohamady, Lenihan.

I would be tempted to play Hernandez alongside Sagbo for a least some part as an aid to him settling into the English game.
More game time the better on that score IMHO.

Harper.
Chester-Maguire-Mcshane
Rosenior-Ince-Meyler-Ben arfa-Brady
Hernandez-Sagbo.

Bench Huddleston-Robertson-McGregor-Davies-Jelavic-Elmo-Quinn

Starting tomorrow.

Quids in on first goalscorer.

This is discrimination. Other posters are allowed to make new threads about topics already being discussed in other threads but this one gets moved.

I feel Ben Affreu getting his first start is also deserving of it's own thread which may not be seen in this one.

DMD out.

You wont see anyone who started the Newcastle game start @ Wba and with Ramierez and Diame cup-tied the midfield almost picks itself.

So imo the team will be : - 3-5-2

Harper

McShane Chester Figueroa

Rosenoir (c) Meyler Ince Ben-Arfa Brady

Sagbo Aluko

subs:- Jakupovic - Bruce - Maguire + 4 others.

News from the midlands has Wba doing the same thing (ie.making wholesale changes) which should make it easier than expected.

In fact our back up team looks stronger than many of the teams we used last season.

BEN ARFA to run RIOT.
