How does working in politics and the private sector work then ST? Last I checked politicians and pretty much everyone associated with parliment was funded through tax payers money. You cannot deny that the public sector has far better pensions and other benefits than the private sector.

On your first point, I'm not a politician and I don't work in the Parliament (although I do often go there.) On your second point, I worked in the public sector, my pension was **** and I didn't get any benefits. I make more money in the private sector. It gets a bit boring listening to the same Tory lies being peddled by all and sundry.
What lies? That the country is skint and can't afford to pay these huge pensions, which they are, to people who retire at 60 and live until they are 80,90 and more? You want the big pensions? Contribute more or **** off.
you can argue whether or not they're huge penions or better pensions but there's definately a shortfall and its not sustainable. isnt it gordon browns fault for levying taxes on pensions funds?
Stupid ****ers. Imagine the hassle this will do to the parents of those kids who now have had to take the day off work.

Contribute more" As a public secotr worker I agree with that and i'm, totally opposed to the strike - not being a union memebr does make it easier to cross the line though. Have to say i disagree with some of the comments about teachers though (no i'm not one)-would the people who think it's so easy really be prepared to go into a class room with 30 15 or 16 year olds without any means of disciplining the unruly, disruptive and often violent ones? I'd guess that the reason they're out today is that they see the pension thing as the straw that broke the camel's back.
why? every individual point they're arguing agaisnt has happened to companies in the private sector (its certainly happened in my work) and in most cases the changes in pensions were made some time ago
And there's the crux of the problem. Just because you got ****ed over you think everyone else should suffer the same fate. David Cameron must be laughing his bollocks off listening to ****e like this.
pensions should pay for themselves, thats the point of pensions, you are saving for your own retirement. if there is a public sector pensions shortfall then the taxpayer has to take up the slack. i dont think its about wanting others to be as ****ed over as you are but more that if we want to continue like this we either cut some other public services (because we do need to make cuts) or we pay more taxes. people are already unhappy about cuts and private sector workers (who as you say have already been ****ed over) dont want to pay more taxes to support someone elses pension.
