Too little, too late...
At least I can leave with a clear conscience on Saturday knowing I've done my bit for Scotland and the UK..... What a mess already, must say I got some clear thinking in on my lunchtime walk today, do you think the conservatives are actually manufacturing this position to maintain and indeed increase their grip on the UK? Let Scotland go and blame it on Labour but also point out how they are bringing more jobs back South when they reverse the BAe decision, bring down RBS and other major businesses, obtain increased investment into an English energy industry based upon shale oil and gas with all the jobs and tax that will bring, get rid of subsidizing ridiculous windfarms, get rid of those pesky labour MPs north of the border, I really can't see what there is to lose for the tories in Westminster (yes I support them but believe in a united kingdom).
I think so as well Aberdeen - the flying of The Saltire over No. 10 and the 3 stooges heading over the border is just the icing on the cake. That in itself would send any wavering Jimmy over the Yes cliff!
I see that Mark Carney has now come out and said that Scotland would not be able to use the pound. Mr Carney told the TUC conference that a currency required a centralised bank and shared banking regulations. Common taxation and spending were also needed.
So it looks as if the SNP will not get the pound, and we will see where they go from here. Currently anyone with a mortgage has it written on the basis that the pound sterling will be used as the repayment currency. Go to any other currency and there will an exchange rate to take into account, probably around 6%. As someone who notices exchange rates and how they alter from day to day, I would prefer to know what my repayment would be at the end of the month.

The political establishment at Westminster needs to persuade the Premier League to offer places to Celtic and Rangers if Scotland stays in the UK - that should settle it.....

Where will the future generations get their mortgages from? Currently UK banks and building societies will not generally lend on properties abroad as a number of friends found when they were buying houses out here. Any new bank set up in Scotland would not have sufficient funds to support business and house purchase, set up all the worldwide trading and simply print banknotes.

If Scotland does vote Yes, my worry is for England. Endless years of Tory rule with UKIP as the main opposition will result in leaving the EU. There will be no markets for English goods and firms will move to Scotland or Ireland if they want to stay in the British Isles and trade easily with the EU. This will lead to more anti foreigner rhetoric from the loony right. Heaven help immigrants of whatever colour. The pound is already dropping because of fears of a Yes vote.

Scotland moves in a different direction showing the English another way resulting in a renwal of the Labour Party and a return to consensus politics.

Yes to a democratic English parliament, Yes to a financially sensible English government, I'm afraid it will be the Scottish businesses that will be looking to move south to trade without being taxed out of existence (as in socialist France). Your presumption that Scotland could remain in the EU is probably also way off the mark.
This is the biggest worry for me as well. The immediate consequences of a yes vote would have an impact on the general election in May 2015. Would Scottish MPs be allowed to take part and , if so, would they have to leave Westminster immediately upon independence (possibly only 10 months after the election) ? All of which would raise the possibility of a Tory majority - which leads to only one thing - an EU Referendum (which is the last thing that England or the Pound needs).
They will go to Ireland; it is a known quantity, with an established financial system. An independent Scotland on the other hand would be a new entity with no paradigm of taxation, they will be constructing the fiscal framework as they go along. Scotland currently benefits (though I sure there will be objections to that word) from falling with the UK's ways of doing things, move away from that with no future strategy outlined currently and business will not like the uncertainty. Even with advantageous tax rates to attract companies there is personal taxation to take into account, why go somewhere if your staff are being taxed out of existence. The tax revenue from oil will only subsidise Scotland for so long and when that runs out the Scots will find socialism only works until you run out of other people's money.
Already we can see how the money supply from outside the country would dry up. Figures released by Societe Generale, the French investment bank, showed an exodus of global money from British companies. Nomura, Japan’s biggest bank, is urging some clients to pull money out of the UK ahead of the referendum. Credit Suisse, the Swiss bank, also warned that breaking up the UK would throw a newly independent Scotland “into deep recession”.
These are the institutions that an Independent Scotland would have to deal with. It is all very well to think that the country would be able to finance the debts it runs up, but without support from these banks, as Credit Suisse say the country could be faced with huge financial problems. Let's not talk about these issues, and they will go away. As two ex-pat Scots said in my French class yesterday, "Total Madness".

Yes ...I am afraid it is the arrogance of the Man.... I note he is insulting all our party leaders today..... He should have negotiated a devo max for goodness sake....... a federal system is the best way forward.......
England desperately needs to negotiate itself into a position with the rest of the EU so it can compete on a fair and equitable basis as the German lead inner club drag the rest of the Euro members into a closer union (which none of their population would vote for). If this cannot be achieved then it is in England's benefit to leave. I cannot imagine the Germans wanting any kind of trade barrier which would effect the chance of selling their cars to us.
Bang on type! The Scottish line to blame all woes on Westminster despite it being Scottish action causing the problems. What I have predicted will happen and there is. I doubt at all that the blame for failure will be directed south. Failed socialist and nationalists never have broad shoulders!
