The Baylaev experiment actually showed remarkably quick results in producing domesticated foxes. Within a few years, foxes were displaying domesticated dog like traits, wagging tails, excitement with human contact, licking peolple's faces (classic pack bonding behaviour)

I read a fantastic article about it in the National Geographic recently, that might be online too. Also I think there is a BBC documentary on the subject too.

I have to mention that I think this thread may mark a watershed moment in relations on not606. We've got PNP cracking jokes <yikes><ok> and I knew there was a gentle side to you Ensil, get you talking about something you like and you roll over and want your belly tickled <laugh><ok>
 
I'm confused, I thought this was about the whereabouts of a 606 poster but I see a debate about Dogs/wolves :O
 
Where is G&S though? Surely he can't be on ja exclusively? I heard that it's a streaming pile of cack over there. (continuing the canine theme....)
 
I've had a cursory glance a few times, but to be honest it looks like just another 606 really. Reading through that house rules list, just reminds me about all that was wrong with Aunties old site. My hat is laid here now, this site is the dogs bollocks <ok>
 
Alsace region I think. Which used to be a part of Germany, but their official breed name is German Shepard. Do you have dogs LIDL?
 
What breed of dogs? I have two - English Springer and Rhodesian Ridgeback
 
Yes, Ridgie's are very good natured - mine is a 5 year old boy (I adopted him last year). Very loyal and a good listener. I had to do a bit of work with him, as his previous owners didn't really socialise him properly. But now he is as good as gold<ok>

True to type, my Springer is as energetic as they come - a lot of people mistake their behaviour for craziness, when actually they just need direction. My Springer would have made a good working dog (she is a pet) She has brilliant command and recall and has total dedication to the task in hand. Springers need occupation, otherwise they will become destructive.

I also used to have a beautiful English Pointer x English Setter. I lost her to Cancer last year and was totally devastated. She was sleek, elegant and a ruthless hunter. A little highly strung, but such a sweet soul - God bless....

I've had dogs in the past. The best by far was a mongrel (who was 99% collie). She was loyal, inteiigent and easy going with a desire to round up anything that moved.

I've had a Westie, who was irritating, although likeable nonetheless. Barked at everything that moved, especially the letterbox. Was either confused or annoyed on the occasions he caught sight of his own tail. Not the brightest.
