As for the legal issues, there obviously isn't a law saying a forum should be moderated but then, I don't think this is what you meant. As site owner, Mick faces the flack should unwanted material be posted on the site. Mods and supermods are appointed to protect him as much as possible. The system isn't flawless and he has received warnings in the past, including from Google who decided to boot us off the search engine for a short time not too long ago. I'm sure people will understand when I say something (pictures, videos, links or even plain old text) need removing rather than just restricting access, this means there is no public communication as to why it as been dealt with in whatever means considered necessary.

mick is bascially legally responsible for content and for example while we are not twitter obviously... someone could get really offended at an outburst or continued harassment on this site and report the user who's done it to the police. the laws we have on this are clear and we've seen twitter trolls arrested.

now we all know we've not got that level of hatred and trolling but hosting offensive material gets other companies backs up like google as gerrez says as they are ALL out to protect rep and keep within laws that basically little old not606 might not over worry about but corporate google will.

i'll give an example if i may.... another site (remaining nameless but i don't care if i do name it) had a certain "star" reporter and bascially site and self publicist. Now then 606 close i didn't come here right way i went there. this is why some of us turned up here after a while like wishi for example. This person basically abused their power to show the ip address of another user on this site (who i will not name at all) and a basic i know where you live attitude.

that's outside the law. I hope you all see that SO FAR the election system has elected decent mods who by virtue of the tools what they have (not toys) have to my knowledge never done anything like this. this is why playing silly buggers in elections for mods and only having 2/3 super mods for the whole site would lead to chaos.

All in all i didn't actually want to be a mod the first two times elections came round and the last time I just threw my name in as while i thought yeah i wouldn't mind actually the election needed someone to run against to be a real election and the only reason i won is cos the vote split.

Times has proven the other two are good mods too.

Luv was a great mod. ergo Livtor... sorry but give it a rest.
 
The starnge thing is, everyone seems to think Livtor is a dick/abusive/or whatever - I've never had a problem with him and can't remember once him replying to a post of mine with what everyone is saying.

To me he's just another member of the forum.

Lol, Luv I wouldn't worry, it's a general discussion about what mods do and why they do it. Most of us knew already and any that don't now do. There's nothing wrong with us highlighting concerns about specific issues without it needing total reform or overthrow of power lol. As far as I'm concerned the mods are reasonable human beings selected for that very reasonable nature. I'm sure they will take on board peoples concerns....even Livs! Within the confines of what they are set out to do by the site owner.

And I see you've moved on to stage three Liv.

1) increasingly insulting behaviour and a tendancy to believe they have access to a hidden truth.
2) accuse mods of abuse of power
3) accuse everyone of being a sheep like clique out to isolate him.
4) rambling leaving thread
5) (optional) hangs around for a bit to see if anyone misses him.

Seriously dude, I'm only going to try one more time. Most, not everyone but most will welcome you and your apparently conscious attempt to be different and stand apart. But like all societies most people will conform to a generalised set of values and outlooks. Stray too far from that and you are isolating yourself. it is you that's responsible for that not the group since you've admitted it's a conscious choice by you to be different.

My problem or at least confusion is why it then upsets you so much that you don't gain acceptance? You have tried everything in your power to stand out separate from the community, often in a very negative critical way I.e. attempt to raise yourself above everyone else by demeaning them and their opinions. What reaction did you expect?

You've attacked us individually and as a group; of course we're going to rally around to our own defence...oh and its a bloody football forum that's reliant on a tribal, group mentality to work for God's sake!

You have been told by many posters who are not necessarily close that your hyper-critical approach is undermining the worthy content of your posting yet you ignore this advice. Either you choose to be a member of a community or you choose to sit apart: both are valid choices. You however are choosing to undermine the community which clearly it isn't going to accept. Still your choice and responsibility.

What exactly do you get from this site? You've stated its not the quality of the threads, the posts, the posters, we are clearly resistant to you "educating" or "elevating" us to "your" level so what exactly do you get from this? Surely one such as yourself doesn't simply feed of attention, even negative attention; that's the mind set and reward system of a toddler......

Anyway, as I said, last time I reach out. I will engage with civil posts from you and will accept that you like anyone else can have issues with individuals but anymore generalised insults and I'll be ignoring you because to keep repeating your faults would just turn into bullying.

Hope you're as intelligent as you believe.

Obviously these who complained have traction with our mods or mod, whomever decided the complaints were warranted, essentially they did not like it and that was enough to ditch the thread off of this board. No rules had to be broken and there were no running arguments either.


No different from how the truth gets silenced everywhere else about Zionism and Israel's war crimes.

Or perhaps sisu the thread was left going for quite a while while the active killing went on and no there's a ceasefire us lazy sods got tired of getting pms and moved it. moving is not closing after all.

remember you are free to create a new thread with a new topic/direction to it as nobody said here it'd be instantly closed or anything. every thread should get the same look from mods. I do think though a good improvement would be to present your stuff free of perosnal back and forth as those who disagree with you then just stop your thread getting a real go.

Yes I did complain about your postings on that thread. Was I the only one - I have no idea and neither do I wish to know. I am pleased that my comments were noted. The decision to move however lay purely with the Mods and I had no influence over that.

Now you may well believe that those who opposed your postings were taking a pro-Israel stance. Despite the fact that we all took great pains to explain that our personal opinions on Israel's actions had nothing to do with it. In that respect you match Tobes' arrogance in somehow being able to define things that don't exist. What you do from here on is our concern and worries me not. However, in defence of the other members of this board and the Mods it there is any influence upon their statements and actions it has not been applied from these pages.

So go if you want, stay if you want, but don't accuse others of actions or opinions, or beliefs that you have no proof of.

Yet had Frank or Donga been making the majority of posts then it would have been fine and it would be pathetic of you to deny that simple fact, lie to yourself all you want, had some of your chums been making most posts then this post, you would not have made<ok> The thread would not have been moved either.

Sure I seen a thread closed (not one of mine) by you because RHC made an offhand comment on it about closing it, and you jumped on it.
