First of all i would like to congratulate Mr RAW, who has lost 17 pounds in 7 weeks...well done mate.. So the average footballer covers between 5-9 kms in a 90 minute game....not a lot really is it, for so called super athletes..Yet some still blow out of their arse, and some get cramp, even when they have the best food, training available.. How comes? Now my 2nd part. Do any of you take your fitness seriously? RAW is doing well, i read that some walk long distances, some box...maybe some go to the gym, but do you take it serious, or just a past time, or maybe's just something to keep the old beer belly bay bay for now. Are you a fitness fanatic, or like me, a reet lazy twat?
I'm not as fit as I would like to be and need to exercise more than I do, and now weighing 17 stone (albeit I'm over 6' tall) is probably a tad too heavy,I mentioned to my missus that we should go on some long coastal walks now my kids are back to school
It has been bloody hard work and has entailed going to the gym at least 5 times a week, sometimes following 12 hour night shifts. However, it was something which I knew I needed to do. I'm now down to 14 stone, and my next goal is to get down to 13 stone which will put me back close to the weight I was when I used to play football.
Good effort mate, was there a reason behind this change, or just something you wanted to do? What has kept you motivated? Also you say 'gym' by that weight loss, i take it, that it's not just lifting daft weights, but also a lot of cardiovascular work..treadmills etc.
Mainly cardio work mate, but I also do some weights in between my time on the cardio machines...I suppose my main motivation was seeing my recent holiday photographs which one my sons put on facebook. Once I get my teeth into something I'm like a dog with a bone, so self motivation becomes less of a problem..
Think motivation is the main problem.. How many people join a gym after new year, or buy a daft bike, or anything, and they become nothing more than something to hang your clothes on.. Do you feel any better for it?
I'm losing weight gradually through diet and light exercise, gone from 20st to 18st.8lbs in just over a month. Just going to stick to what I'm doing.
Feeling much better, and my times and distances, particularly on the treadmill, have improved drastically. I have also been doing a fair bit of cycling again lately, and intend to do at least one big ride next year (possibly the W to W or Reivers coast to coast rides).
Don't get offended that i'm replying to you..But that is some loss..Well done. I'm a firm believer, that diet will only take you so far...So what have you cut out, or done differently?
I've lived my life round keeping fit. Played rugby, done aikido, muay thai, mma, jogging, mountain climbing and weight training. Also a spell in the army! It has all left me a physical wreck at 38! My knees and back are ****ed and I pull muscles fastening my trousers these days! Yet I still have to keep active or I'll die of boredom. Kids should stick to computer games and a life on the couch. Much better for you in the long run.
Not the easiest on the joints...I did that for several years, me shins knack me still..Ribs still get a bit tender. Now i will just watch them.
Late forties, five nine, just under twelve stone....all thanks to the little gym I have in my house which consists of exercise bike (30mins a day) weights and a Roger Black (yeah I know) rowing machine (10 mins a day). I quit smoking years ago, don't drink much and no takeaways......still too much sugar in my diet though. Oh and I've knocked bread on the head as well. Overall, I put the effort in and I would urge everyone else to as well....I feel bloody marvellous most of the time
I think quitting the ***s definitely helped.....I used to get pains in my legs in my late twenties and I put it down to smoking. Once I quit, the pains stopped (when I say pains it was probably all the toxins blocking my veins and arteries). I've noticed I put a couple of pounds on if I have booze or especially, an Indians so I tend to shy away from them. In fact, I haven't had an Indians for about six months (my mouth is watering at the thought of a peshwari naan). Sugar is the hardest thing for me to give up Comm, its a bugger.
Com, you know I don't hold grudges, I'm fiery in the argument but let it go. The bodyguard comment was just too much for me to resist that's all. Cheers fella. All I've done is reduced my carbs, reduced my portion size, bought more fresh food, got some walking in and had more sex (A result of higher energy levels) Got a massive Victorian park close so sticking a couple of miles in their before going to Sainsbury's to buy my food fresh daily. Thing is, big people always lose a lot a first. I lost half a stone in the first 4 days but it's been much more gradual since. If I had to put my finger on what's worked best I'd say reducing portion size and the sex. Going from once a week to 3 or 4 times a week has been heaven
Late forties Bri but I'm not past it.....honestly Hey, anyway, lets not taak about my non-existent sex life <blushing now>
I knew you'd have to say something We're cool mate...A lot different, but a lot alike.. Stick at it, what would be your ideal weight, for you, not some ****ing chart telling you what it should be? Dogs, and mags, a match made in heaven. What's up with all the sugar? I take it you have a sweet tooth.
