Cardiff's bid on Friday failed to meet Dundee Utd's valuation for the player, Gethin Jenkin's (with the sanction of the board) has given MM the green light to go back with an improved offer which is closer to the Scottish club's £2million valuation, but is said not to be the full asking price, Utd are said to want the majority up front, whereas Cardiff favour stage payments, the two clubs are said not to be far apart, but the problem from our point of view is with cash rich Blackpool (parachute payments, and the Charlie Adam money) said to be interested Utd might be tempted to play hardball and hang on for a big lump payment.......the player is said to favour joining up with Conway at Cardiff, so that could yet be a factor. I don't think that either MM or the Malaysians will be steamrollered into either paying over the odds, or getting involved in a deal that is not fair to the City, which is fair enough, however it would be a shame to miss out on a player, over what, in the scheme of things is only a few quid, a fine line to walk, the player wants to move, the club appear to be resigned to him going..........it will be interesting to see who blinks first
