    Ruddy

    Olsson
    Martin
    Turner
    Hooiveld

    Tettey
    Redmond
    Hoolahan
    Johnson

    Hooper
    Grabban

Currently seem the top 11 based on votes (Hooiveld isn't but is the 4th most popular defender)

I keep changing my mind on the system and midfield especially

I'm actually quite surprised Turner is only at 79%, he's been brilliant! Vadis and Hooiveld look well favoured by the fans despite not playing for us yet too.

More to the point, who is the 1% that didn't vote Ruddy??

I just presumed that was either people wanting to mess around and submit silly teams, or people who forgot to select a goalkeeper.

Was surprised that Lafferty had such a low percentage

    Strongest I'd want to see:

    Ruddy

    Martin Turner Hooiveld Olsson

    Vadis Tettey Howson

    Redmond Hooper Grabban

Think that's stronger than the team we played at time last year.

I'd agree that's stronger than several sides we put out last season, the only change I'd possibly make would be to swap the wing Grabban is on, and bring Lafferty or Jerome in. I feel we could do with a target up front, even if it is in a wider position. Despite Grabban being 6 ft he doesn't really fulfil that role.

Agreed I think the squad allows us to change our style of play markedly depending on the opposition without actually weakening the side we play.

That is pretty much the eleven I would pick, especially for home games. We must be able to play with just one holding mid-fielder, thus giving us five in attack. As things stand this would leave the people's favourite Wes on the bench.

Has there been a Championship squad with the amount of depth we have in our squad? We will have top end Championship players not even making our bench.

I think Newcastles team when Hughton was in charge probably had a stronger starting 11, but nowhere near as much competition as we have.

With all the newcomers beginning to settle in & be available, the next round of CPL predictions will be interesting!

I could easily pick two line-ups and be happy with both.

We will have to be patient in allowing the new arrivals to settle in and make their mark but I think Neil Adams will soon, apart from having really strong like-for-like replacements on the bench, have the genuine option to change tactics mid-game. All very exciting!

Well it's crazy to think that the top scorer in the league is probably our second choice striker behind Hooper.

Very surprised Jerome has such a low percentage, I think he could prove to be an absolute bargain. But, it's tough to pick a starting 11 with such a huge squad of first team contenders. The suggested 11 above might get overrun in midfield against teams playing 4-5-1 perhaps, but it's wonderful to have such a range of options available.

If im honest, whilst I really like Redmond and believe he can be a real star in the future, I think Murphy has already provided more in the way of final balls so far this year. Perhaps Im being unfair or even too pro Murphy but its just what iv seen.

    My team would be:

    Ruddy

    Martin Hooviveld Turner Olsson

    Tettey Odjidja

    Lafferty Hoolahan Murphy

    Grabban

    Or

    Same defence with

    Redmond Tettey Odjidja Murphy

    Hooper/Lafferty/Jerome partnering Grabban

I remain surprised that Johnson is so undervalued.

I have to admit I didnt pick Bradders. Brilliant player, but I feel that Tettey is better and they are similar players. I think Howson will be quality when he comes back.

I just think Bradders is someone you can build a team around quietly because of his discipline. The player you don't realise you need until he's not there. I actually think he and Tettey are almost polar opposite in terms of style of defensive midfielder. But that's a discussion for another thread!

We should be picking our starting team from a position of strength. Selecting two defensive mid-fielders is a negative position, and maybe we should do so against the better teams away from home, but I would hope that we will be an offensive unit and let the opposition worry about us, not the other way round.
