So... you may remember I needed 5 marks to get into my first choice Uni... I got 4 on a remark, so that didn't work.

Anyway, about 10 days ago I was told I hadn't got into halls, but to cut a long story short, they offered me a place today after someone dropped out.

They said the downside was that it's actually a 'large' room and it's catered. I'm sure I can deal with that...

Today is a good news day!

Well done DTLW! Onwards and upwards. Which City are you heading to?

apart from on this forum, where it is banned :)

You're right FLT, it is banned. Not by mods [or at least, not by this bunch], but by the owner of the forum. We try to allow as much room as we can for people to touch on the subject though, without getting into the nitty-gritty. This issue about being respectful of other people's views, in politics and religion, is perfectly ok to debate, as far as I can see.

Just got round to reading my Sunday paper...Holloway was talking about meeting Les Reed after the Millwall game. He said Les was very excited about what is going on at Saints. Holloway asked if he could come and have a look at how it is done and of course Reed said yes.

Some time ago (several months?), someone on one of these threads posted a link to a specify-it-yourself website for PCs that was utterly terrific. I can't look for it as I have no idea what the thread title would have been and I suspect "PC" might not help me to cut down the number of threads I'd have to read.

Anyone remember posting the link, please?

Vin

PCs or laptops..? There are lots of you-specify-the-spec PC makers around. On a very tiny scale even I'm one, if truth be told. :)

An example: http://www.accomputerwarehouse.com/product-info/build-your-own-pc

Dell and Novatech do similar things.

Well done DTLW. My daughter has went through a very similar experience, but now sorted with Leeds University and good quality, but expensive, accommodation !

My point was that if I hypothetically disagree with your religion I would still respect your right to believe in it and I wouldn't try and change your views. If your politics were fundamentally opposed to what I thought, I wouldn't hesitate to try and change your mind.

Fair enough, I guess politics and religion aren't exactly comparable for that reason (although good luck trying to get someone to change their mind online), but you'd still be a dick to insult someone because of either.

Congrats! Halls can be good fun and catered just makes things a lot easier, although watch out for dodgy food.

I still don't have any accommodation for my uni. D:

If you recall my previous post I was making the same point myself.
