I heard that he hated it from day one and had already cancelled the loan. Didn't help having a ridiculous haircut either.

Belgian journalist Sven Claes: "Toby Alderweireld will go on loan to Southampton for one season. Fee unknown. Koeman-brothers convinced Red Devil to sign."
Top signing. Would be even better if we could make him a permanent saint next year but still happy days.
How can he *not* fall in love with us. That, I think, is the Koeman effect. Great work (once I actually see him proudly wearing a Saints kit tomorrow that is...)
I think some fans underestimated how big a name Ronald Koeman is. i know it's not as big as Toby's name, but you get my drift
I will be very happy with this when it's announced tomorrow. Even if it is just a season long loan, he'll want to make an impression and that can only be a good thing for us.
Wow. That's actually quite a coup. Not sure what this means going forward. Can't depose Fonte as our captain so soon. Can't believe Alderweireld would come here to sit. Does that leave Gardos out in the cold already? The other thing is this: Lallana-> Tadic Lambert-> Pelle Lovren-> Alderweireld Shaw-> Bertrand Chambers for Clyne is a wash and I believe Gardos and Alderweireld can both play RB. Plus Forster, Long, and Mane? I feel like we might not have lost anything in terms of starting XI quality. And to the extent that we have, we've made up for it in depth.
With all this comparison as to who is better than whom, don't forget it is actually about the team. Getting the better team is the most important.
Absolutely. We had a team which had evolved together. It will take a long time to replicate that. Still, not bad so far.
Well of course you're right. There's a lot we still don't know in terms of how the team will gel on and off the pitch and if Koeman is a good manager, etc. We can only wait and see. But it's at least very encouraging that money was spent and the team on paper looks decent. Which should allay some of the fears about asset stripping, etc. And because of all the changes in the backroom, it's unknown how well the team would have performed without MP. It's potentially to our advantage that Koeman has been given the chance to assemble a team that he likes. There's a big risk any time a club go through as many changes in a season as we have. But I'm pretty excited that despite the odds, we have been able to replace every exiting player with someone who at least appears to be a reasonable facsimile/on the same level. I'm pleased with the results of the transfer window. I can't see how someone couldn't be. I'm stoked. Don't ruin my good time!
