Yeah, it's on there now - heard a rumour in the bar yesterday that Di Matteo was being lined up and they did say that Beppe would quit today!
Couldn't agree more. Whatever people thought about him I don't think anyone could doubt his commitment. I like stability so am very worried now.
Yes.... be blew it.... I think with a coach with a similar strategy to what we are playing who can then help the team play the best way for them we cannot go wrong.... There is only one: GT! Mind you Di Matteo I would have time for...
Completely agree. These are early days and as is being reported, this is not about results. If the board felt he was the right man, he'd still be manager. Reports this morning linking the ex Brighton manager Garcia with the job. Has to be someone with experience. Surely the board know this...
If someone has been lined up already, what damage can AC really do without a match (and only about half the squad) to take charge of?
To win promotion from this league the manager has to get the best out of every player , and create a strong team ethos. Beppe was clearly not doing the first thing and maybe not the second--though the team spirit looked good on Saturday. But was that down to Captain Deeney? The owners must have a replacement all lined up, and the timing of the resignation was clearly not left to chance. The new man needs to carry some credibility with all the players and to have managerial experience and success. Well, we will know soon enough. Lots of managers would like to take over this squad!
According to Filippo Galli's Wikipedia page, he is the current Watford manager!!!! And he's in London according to his Twitter account!!!
I liked Beppe, but have always thought that he was a stopgap. Despite the vitriol directed at Frank Smith, he did know that things were going on behind the scenes that he could not report in detail. I have always believed that the fans know 10% of what is going on off the field and when the WO stated that player unrest and other things made his position difficult then it was clear to me that not all was well. The Pozzos have invested a lot in getting promotion this season, and I believe that they may have decided that he is not the right person to take us forward.
Current Youth Team Manager from AC Milan just happened to fly into London this morning, that's Falippo Galli ... (WO comment)
Ditto, I would guess the Pozzo's have been planning this as I am sure that they were made aware that things were not right. Everything they do seems to be well thought through generally and they have a long term strategy.
So what's Beppe like? Just wondering as you're second in the league but you don't seem that fussed about him going
