i agree with many about laffertty,i am impressed by what i have seen of him,but he needs to play more centraly.gabben is the type of foreward who will both score and miss a lot and would be better playing off laffertty.,maybe behind him? one thing for sure i think it is vital that we retain hooper, he will destroy many defences in this division
i dont think creating chances this season will be our problem,we will need to score plenty to get back to the pl. to me lafferttey looks like he has some quality played down the middle, grabben makes space and will get a few for us,but we will need a true out and out goalscorer to finish top two,and i think hooper will be that in this div. the other ace up our sleeve of course is wes. he is different class at this level, and will give many teams big problems
Maybe I'm in a disagreeable mood, but I don't think he is anymore. I'm hoping Vadis or McGrandles will replace him in that position over the course of the season.
we will have to agree to differ hucks! i still think he is the bizz, and hopefuly we will see me proved right over this season!
We have scored 8 goals 5 for Grabban 2 for Johnson 1 for Tettey and most on here seem to think that Grabban is the problem some have even mentioned dropping him , I must be the only person that rates this guy . I have sat through weeks of watching us play without scoring so for me Grrabban has given the whole team a massive lift, it would be interesting to see how many games we would have won if Grabban wasn't in the team . Very very strange views from some of my fellow posters.
it was my daughters turn to use the season tickets on sat so i admit i did not see the match live and i am sure what you say is right, but not every team is bournemouth, and not every team will be able to do that. i still think he has the ability to shine in this div
i do rate grabben myself, and i am glad we signed him, just think he is the sort of striker that needs four chances to score one goal. but he makes space for himself well and will get those chances,i am sure. he has started well thats for sure
Grabban's finishing frustrates me but if a player is scoring a goal every game you have to play him, don't you?
I have to agree with Supers, despite Grabban's goals, the team overall isn't quite clicking up front. Until Grabban's goal this weekend, I think all out goals were either shots from outside the box or potentially dodgy officiating. That says to me that the front 3 aren't doing the right things. Lafferty upfront would allow Redmond and Grabban to run off him and he can bring the CMs into the game more. Or you put Redmond right Murphy left and just get them to reach the by line and pull the ball back for Grabban, who we know gets into good positions. It's nice we now have lots of options up front and I think when Hooper is back from injury we'll see a different set up.
We might have won all our games by 3 goals because the team was set up better. I agree Grabban is doing well and it'd probably be wrong to drop him in such hot form but it's clear that our play in the final 3rd is disjointed at the moment and I think a change needs to be made, whether in formation or personnel. I actually think the diamond wouldn't be the worst idea, you just need at least one target man for it to really work. Redmond up front in the diamond just doesn't work, but it doesn't make it a bad formation.
We paid £3m for a striker that is well on the way to bag 2o -30 goals this season at this rate , drop Hoolahan Lafferty ElBen Redmond they are not scoring or looking close to scoring not the guy that scores every bloody game.. If someone says it's not about scoring goals it's how we play i will scream. Also granted it was a higher league but Hooper was completely anonymous for many many games last season so comparisons can't be made until he actually plays a few games.
Last season we had an expensive Dutch international striker that turned out to be utter s**t scoring 1 goal, but for some he was the Messiah and totally blameless, we invested in Hooper who scored a crazy amount of goals in Scotland but he didn't do enough to keep us up with his massive haul of 6 goals Elmander was an absolute donkey but people praised him for his "other" qualities . We finally have a guy that can score on a regular basis and everyone is on his back , i don't pretend to be a master football tactician but i know that it's not easy to score a goal a game and Grabban is doing this.
For whom was RvW "the Messiah and totally blameless"? I don't remember anyone saying anything of the sort
I could trawl through months of posts from last year Rob where these views were ever present but i really don't care enough ,if it makes it any easier then i will tow the line and call for our only goal threat to sit a few games out to work on his sharpness? If you honestly don't remember the unconditional support and and excuse making for RVW's pitiful form last season we must live in alternate universes .
