At long last Vadis Odjidja Ofoe has signed, tweeting:

“I am happy to join Norwich City FC. Looking forward to get busy with the team. Thanks to everybody from Norwich FC for the great welcome. Hereby I also want to thank Club Bruges for the last five seasons. I wish them all the best for the future.”

    Great stuff! (At last).

John Flanagan looks set to sign a new contact at Liverpool. As they've got Johnson, Manquillo, Moreno and Enrique for the full back positions perhaps we could put in a cheeky loan bid?

Shooting for the moon with that one TMYAG. He was probably their most consistent defender last season! If he goes anywhere it'll be the Prem.

He was very good last season and I think he's been unlucky that they've brought in new players in his position/s.

You're probably right that if he were to go out on loan it'd be to a Premier League side, but I really like him. Wisdom did really well at Derby last year, but hadn't really ever played in the first team before.

I totally agree, I would snap him up without a second thought. Him playing so much for the first team last season means he will now be a target for far more teams though. Flan is definitely further ahead than Wisdom (Though they are both great fullbacks). Wisdom would have been a good signing as well but it seems WBA have already gotten him.

Can we just pause a moment and consider how things have gone so far? Many on here were writing off Adams as a 'rookie manager' who would put City at a considerable disadvantage this season. Has he? Six players going out, seven coming in, and Adams has, IMO, potentially (always a dangerous word) kept his promise of replacing those leaving with better players.

    Elmander - Jerome
    Yobo -Cuellar
    Snodgrass - Lafferty
    RvW - Grabban
    Fer - Odjidja
    Pilks - Josh Murphy (Surman)
    McGrandles -
    O'Neil -

Add to that E. Bennett returning to the squad (like Surman, so far) and young guns like Gafaiti, Mcfadden, Jacob Murphy, and Jamar Loza and IMO, we have a very strong squad in spite of relegation. Oh, and a current run of four straight wins. Time for a bit of credit for our 'rookie manager'?

Definitely RER. If you had said to me before the season kicked off that we'd be on 9 points (hopefully more) by the end of August, I (and I'm sure MOST fans) would've snapped your hand off!!!!' <cheers>

    Completely agree RER.

A lot of posters mentioned that his first really big task would be to hold onto key players. There was also a question over recruitment and ability to attract players as he's not a 'name'. I think he's done exceptionally well on both counts. That, together with the performances on the pitch (Wolves aside) makes me a very happy, or chirpy, Canary.

its a good post rick but why do you always have to ruin it by posting something like this at the end?

as far as i can tell adams has been getting plenty of deserved credit since the wolves game. everybody is very happy with his work in the transfer market and the way the team has piled a few wins up against tricky opponents and a victory over the boys down the road. its very important people don't get too carried away - there have been factors in all three league wins which on another day could have gone against us (red card first minute, dodgy penalty vs blackburn and offside goal v the binners) but thems the breaks in football - last season everything went against us - we are due some good luck imo. as i said yesterday its a case of 'so far, so good' but proceed with caution. its been a positive start - but it's just a start. he's been a manager for a total of 9 football matches. he's still learning the ropes but even the most sceptical amongst us will have been impressed over the past two weeks or so <ok>

to be fair, hanging on to key players was going to be tricky no matter who was in charge but that's down to the board as much as adams. the only thing he can do is try to convince them this is the best place to play their football (and he seems to have done that with a few) but at the end of the day, if an offer comes in that's too good to turn down players will (and have gone). that's no sleight against the manager - that's just relegation taking its toll.

Great post Supers and I think most of the squad who remain feel that if they want to 'earn their corn' as opposed to keeping the subs bench warm, then they're better off staying put and to be fair, I'm quite pleased that Snoddy's gone and we seem to have replaced Fer with someone who is just as good or better and pocketed some cash into the bargain - I;m aware we;d to pay a fee to FCTwente, but I'm sure we're still in pocket on the 2 deals. <ok>

we've got a terrific squad for this division, full of pace, power and technique, and a lovely mix of youth and experience. this squad should win this league or at the very least it should get promoted either automatically or via the play offs, i don't think there is any doubt about that. the manager will be the determining factor as to whether or not this team lives up to its qualities or it falls flat on its face. this is a bloody massive season for the club - promotion should be the only goal - its a lot of pressure on a young manager just making his way in the game. four games isn't much to go on just yet but we can all be pleased he's made a bright start because if he hadn't we'd already be in a spot of bother.

The board has become much more harmonious as a result too Supers everyone is behind the team with a spring in their step, even Carrabuh:emoticon-0105-wink:

I think our current squad would stand a better chance of surviving in the PL than the current Leicester and Burnley squads do. If they can get promoted, there can't be that much to fear in this division, surely? Beyond Cardiff and Derby, perhaps Forest, nobody looks too threatening. Top 4 really should be the absolute minimum this squad can achieve.

In fairness, Supers, I only asked for 'a bit of credit for our rookie manager'? There's still a long way to go, but we all thought a good start was vital. We've had that, so can't we applaud that? You talk about the good luck we've had (and I don't accept the Ipswich goal was 'offside'), but no mention of Wolves only scoring after we had a man sent off. Have we really become so negative about everything City?

You may well have to eat humble pie Supers as I haven't forgotton that you said that you "wouldn't want Adams anywhere near the first team" ;)

I was one of the few who wanted Adams to take over last season when it was obvious that Hughton was taking us down, obvious to me anyway. Having said that, I did want a more experienced man at the helm once our fate had been sealed and thought the board had gone for 'the cheap option'. I've been really impressed with Neil's team selections and style of play this term other than the Wolves opener and to be fair had we not had a man sent off we probably would have got something from that game <ok>

I think that's true, DH, and arguably this is a PL quality side ready to take on the championship.

But Adams is not a 'young manager'. He's 48 years old and has been involved in top level football for over 30 years. He was a member of Everton's league winning side and is totally dedicated to City. Time to recognise him for what he is. Why did Holt give up a management job at Falkirk to come back to City? One reason - Adams. Could it be that McNally and the Board saw something the rest of us didn't? There will be setbacks to be sure, but we have the management and players to deal with that. Let's begin to enjoy that.

neil adams has managed for 9 league matches - of course he is a young manager. you've taken what i've said far too literally.

every norwich fan enjoys seeing their team win and playing well helps too - just don't get too carried away, that's all i'm saying. people had (and still have) perfectly legitimate concerns about adams. he hasn't proven anybody right or wrong. all he can do is keep improving, keep learning and hopefully take us to promotion. that is what we all want.

Here's the line up that started the Ipswich match:

    Ruddy
    Martin - Turner - Bennett - Garrido
    Tettey - Johnson
    Lafferty - Wes - Redmond
    Grabban

And if everyone was struck down with food poisoning then we could play this:

    Rudd
    Whitaker - Cuellar - McFadden - Olsson
    Vadis - O'Neil
    E Bennett - Howson - Murphy
    Hooper

Both are very strong teams in fact arguably the second is stronger. After the international break the team selection is going to become very difficult. But it's good to see our squad has competition for every place. Another CB might be necessary however if the window shut now I'd be very happy.
