Cant play the interview at work but maybe I read too much into what he said. Bring back the interpreter:biggrin:

Was it a Saints player interview or Youtube, or an Audioboo on Solent..? I may have already heard it and read nothing into what he said. We know how people on here tend to take a missed word or syllable out of place and think the world is about to end. :)

Really..? When did he actually say that..? Was he just saying that there was no new contract yet..[?] but his slightly less than fine grasp of English let him down..? Recently, he spoke of Cork as being an excellent professional, so why would he let him go..? I don't see it happening.

In his post match comments last night he was asked about cork and replied no contract was to be offered to him

I shall have to go back through the interviews to listen again then. Cheers.

EDIT: Well, no mention of Cork not being offered a new contract in the Saints/Youtube or Solent/Audioboo interviews, so far. Any more..?

If it's a newspaper or twitter thing then I'd take it with a pinch of salt. Other than that, Jack wants to move, and I can understand that. I wouldn't want to let him leave though. Maybe a Clasie deal is closer than I think and he's better than I've heard.

Yes. This is what he wrote: Koeman confirmed club have no plans to offer Cork a new contract at present in his post-match comments. #Saintsfc
Also, if you open the Twitter comment you'll see the odd person questioning where he got that from because nobody else heard it.

Frankly, I'm not fussed about it.

BTW, when questioned he wrote: ... He also said that Cork is happy to be a Southampton player and that he hopes to sign 2 players before Monday.

So there you go. Cork remains and will get his contract extension sorted later, not sooner. That's how I read it. I'll bake the humble pie is he leaves before the window closes.

He said that if Cork wasn't happy at Saints, his door was open. Sounds like he would be open to offers, so Cork isn't high on his list. Cork has this season to work his way into Koeman's plans, but I think we have no plans to offer him a new contract.

He said that if Cork wasn't happy at Saints, his door was open...

That used to mean that the player can always come and talk to him about it. If that's what he said then I don't read the interpretation that the club's door was open to offers. That doesn't fit the phrase. Besides, according to this Telegraph man, Jack is happy at Saints.

EDIT: I have wondered in the past whether this anxiety on players moving at the merest hint of a whiff of info is confined to Saints fans. I know really that it isn't. But, at present, I don't have the fever. :)

What have you heard about Clasie that he needs to be better than?

Well tbh, I thought it was obvious, but to spell it out, better than Cork would be a starter.

Then it gets slightly more complicated. Is he that good that he'll take to the PL like a duck to water..? How much is he going to cost overall..? Is he worth it..? Do we already have enough players to do the job he does and/or should we be strengthening in other areas..? Are other rival clubs after him..?

Most of what I've heard about Clasie being of a specific quality has been hearsay. It doesn't make me do somersaults around the room in anticipation of his arrival. Perhaps it should..? Enlighten me.

Clasie is like Morgan, a deep lying playmaker that can also tackle. He is a upgrade on Prowse and Cork.
